Free Knowledge Africa
Mission
editFree Knowledge Africa is a group of volunteer editors that seek to promote the use of Wikimedia projects by Africans, and bridging content gaps in the sphere of travel, geography, places, settlements, landmarks, heritage, historical and tourist sites towards sharing and contributing to global knowledge.
Objectives
edit- To promote the use and contributions to Wikimedia projects by Africans.
- To increase the reach of Wikimedia as it pertains to gaps in African travel, geographic information, sports, cultural and tourist sites.
- To partner with organizations and bodies involved in African culture, travel and tourism towards showcasing its resources.
- To generate and promote free knowledge about African culture, travel and tourism.
- To educate and encourage African photographers to contribute to Commons.
- Providing a space for people who are/will engage(d) in Wikimedia to collaborate on projects, discuss strategies, and socialize with each other.

Proposed Activities
edit- Organize a workshop to train editors and interested volunteers
- Organize an outreach in Lagos, Nigeria. This involves taking pictures of important buildings, sites, places and monuments along the Ikorodu - Epe - Lagos Island road corridor
- Organize a "Wiki loves Places" competition. This would involve article creation on Wikivoyage and photography contributions that relates to the theme
- Organize a "Wiki loves Heritage" workshop
- Contribute to Open street map
