ESEAP Conference 2024/Report/Hillun Vilayl Napis (WMID)
Things learned at the conference
edit- I saw that the Wikimedia Community User Group Malaysia (MYS) is growing. In 2019, I only knew three people from this user group; two attended WikiNusantara (a national conference in Indonesia). However, at the ESEAP 2024 Conference, there were many MYS members, especially new contributors who edited Wikipedia Kadazandusun. I found out more details about MYS after attending the conference.
- This was my first time attending the ESEAP Conference. I met many volunteers in the ESEAP region, although I had previously participated at the ESEAP Strategy Summit in Bangkok in 2019 and Wikimania 2019 in Stockholm. I also met volunteers from Japan for the first time at this conference.
- Even though MYS hosted the ESEAP Conference, I saw good collaboration with community members from other countries who contributed to its success.

Comments/ suggestions about the conference
edit- I recommend having a dedicated person responsible for live streaming to address technical issues quickly.
- The committee should send information about the conference by email to participants. The committee shared some information only in the Telegram group.
- I like the karaoke party session.
