ESEAP Conference 2024/Submissions/Optimizing the Role of Social Media as a Learning and Collaboration Platform

[Optimizing the Role of Social Media as a Learning and Collaboration Platform] edit

Abstract/description edit

The Indonesian Wikisource Community was established in June 2021. At that time, many people were unfamiliar with Wikisource, especially in our country where Wikipedia is more recognized as the largest online encyclopedia. About a year later, we initiated efforts to present knowledge content about proofreading stages on the Indonesian Wikisource, starting from September 2022. This step was taken to maintain the understanding of participants attending Wikisource workshops, while introducing that proofreading books on Wikisource is not difficult. The positive response from our social media visitors when this content was first launched was quite good, so we decided to maintain it regularly on the Indonesian Wikisource social media platform. Another positive impact is generating interest among social media visitors, which then leads to new collaborations and a sustainable network.

Session outcomes edit

Participants were informed that the Indonesian Wikisource social media not only serves as a branding tool but also as a source for learning book proofreading on Wikisource. The positive impact is the emergence of interest in interaction and collaboration from social media visitors, both before and after Wikisource workshops. This provides an opportunity for other participants to adopt the concept within their communities or groups.
