Wikidata Eighth Birthday

On the occasion of Wikidata's 8th Birthday, WikiProject India & CIS-A2K organised a series of events. These events were organised throughout the October month, there were 3 Webinars, 2 data-thons and merchandise was given to the Indian affiliates and communities upon request as well as active contributors of Wikidata residing in India. The webinars were focused on Sum of all paintings, Abstract Wikipedia and Wikidata  Lexeme. The data-thons were focused on Sum of all Indian paintings and India-specific Wikidata Properties data-thon. Mahatma Gandhi 2020 edit-a-thon

CIS-A2K conducted a 2-day-long Mahatma Gandhi edit-a-thon, where 61 Wikimedians showed interest to participate, and 42 Wikimedians made contributions to different Wikimedia projects. 11 Indian communities took part in the contest. Wikimedians mainly contributed to Wikipedia, Wikisource and Wikimedia commons during the contest. Promotion of Wikimedia content in 'Reading Week'

CIS-A2K conducted online meetings, facilitated press coverage of digitised books project on Wikimedia Commons and used social media channels to propagate the concept of searchable open content in Wikisource library. The state government language department and Rajgurunagar Public library also took the initiative to circulate the appeals widely. Leading newspapers in the state in Marathi, Hindi and English languages had given special coverage of the digitised content. During this week, online meetings with two libraries were arranged who had shown interest in digitisation project after reading the media coverage.
