COVID-19 support for Indic Wikimedians edit

CIS-A2K has initiated the support program to provide some reliefs to our Wikimedia community residing in India. The followings kinds of supports are provided under the program.

  1. Reimbursement of vaccination costs
  2. COVID-19 protection kits: This kit included
  3. Counseling by experts

The COVID-19 protection kits will get couriered within a week or more, depending on various logistical factors. The team will try to support the more vulnerable section of the community first. CIS-A2K Annual Proposal edit

CIS-A2K has submitted an Annual proposal & Workplan for the year 2021-22 to Wikimedia Foundation. The proposal describes the activities and event that will be conducted in the upcoming year to develop the Wikimedia movement in India. Some of the major areas of work that we will be focusing on in the upcoming year are Wikisource, Institutional partnerships, Technological Infrastructure and Wikimedia Strategy 2030 etc. read more...

Wikipedia in the Classroom: Case study edit

A short study on the Wikimedia in Education (WIE) at Christ University, Bengaluru was conducted. This aims to offer an overview of the key objectives and challenges of this project and map its impact on teaching-learning practices in multilingual classrooms. The report has been authored by Ananth Subray, with editorial oversight and support by Puthiya Purayil Sneha, and external review by Sumandro Chattapadhyay. Online sessions with district-level groups working on water conservation projects edit

CIS-A2K in collaboration with the different organisations started working on developing the water-related knowledge repositories in Wikimedia projects. We are facilitating the process in planning tours and presentation of knowledge related to water and other natural resources. In the planning phase and after the two-day tours, the follow-up session on open knowledge and Wikimedia projects are being conducted. Presentations at Wikiworkshop 2021 edit

Puthiya Purayil Sneha made a presentation on the research work undertaken by the CIS-A2K team on Wikimedia platforms and projects over the last couple of years at the Wikiworkshop 2021, held virtually and as part of The Web Conference 2021. She shared early learnings and observations from the projects completed so far, with the objective of gathering feedback that may help inform next steps of the research at CIS-A2K, and further align these efforts with the work of the larger movement. Former A2K team member, Bhuvana Meenakshi Koteeswaran also gave a lightning talk on the recently published report on bridging the gender gap in Indian language Wikimedia communities at the event.

Edit Wikisource Campaign edit

CIS-A2K conducted an "Edit Wikisource Campaign" on Punjabi Wikisource from 24 to 30 April 2021. In this campaign 8 community members took and proofread 124 pages, 14 pages were validated. Online Meeting with Punjabi Wikimedians edit

CIS-A2K conducted an online meeting with the Punjabi Wikimedians. In this meeting, a total of 10 Wikimedians joined. The main focus of this meeting was to discuss Wiki Loves Literature, Audiobook Project and Punjabi Wikiquote read more... 

Online workshop on Wikimedia projects for active citizen groups edit

CIS-A2K conducted an online session with the help of our institutional partner Jnana Prabodhini's 'Sanwadini' women's group to introduce the Wikimedia projects to Active citizen groups from various places. A total of 45 participants actively attended this 2.5 hours workshop. The topics included Unicode, the importance of open source applications, Marathi websites, copyright issues, authors database and major Wikimedia projects.
