City:Visakhapatnam, Community:VVIT WikiConnect edit

Why do you want to host TTT 2019 in the city?
  • We are members of VVIT WikiConnect which is a college based Wiki-club. Formed in 2017, we organised several activities both on and off campaign in 2017 and 2018, including edit-a-thons, a strategy salon, #1lib1ref. In this regard, we would like to use this opportunity organise and host TTT, in Visakhapatnam (Vizag). Andhra Pradesh has not observed any major Wiki-event till date. We have two cities which are feasible, but we discussed and decided on Visakhapatnam due to several advantages. The community discussion can be seen on the talk page VVIT WikiConnect here. We also informed and discussed about this with the Telugu community on te Wikipedia village pump here. Logistically, Visakhapatnam Airport is well connected air, road and rail. It has direct air connections from Bengaluru, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bhuwaneswar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Kolkata and Kochi. It is also a major railway junction and well connected by road—APSRTC operates several buses from Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Tirupathi and also has connections to Bengaluru, Chennai and Bhubaneswar. The city has good options for venue (including accomodation) and also several places to visit such as the Tribal Museum. There can be a potential activity planned such as a photo-walk or like an educational tour.
Do you have any venue in mind in your city?
  • We have checked a few options in city considering their proximity from transport hubs. These can discussed upon request. Since we are not aware of the budget and also specific requirement (if any) we didn’t zero in on any venue.
Who are the community members who will work on this?
  • Sumanth699: He was the first lead co-ordinator of the club for the six months. He has over 11,000 contributions in en Wikipedia, Commons, and Wikidata. He has been a part of organising several activities including strategy salon in 2017, initial edit-a-thons in college, #1lib1ref etc.
  • Nivas10798: He is one of the co-ordinators of the club. He majorly contributes to en Wikipedia and Wikidata. He has conducted Wikidata workshops and participated in many wiki events. He is the organiser of VVIT Advanced Wiki Training in December 2018.
  • Mnavya: Navya is the current lead co-ordinator of the club. She has major contributions in Wikidata, en Wikipedia and te Wikipedia, with more than 6,000 global contributions. She is an organiser of WWWW 2018 for Telugu and also led several Wikidata workshops and awareness sessions in college with the help of other co-ordinators.
  • SuswethaK: She is one of the co-ordinators of the club and she contributes to Wikidata, en Wikipedia and te Wikipedia. She along with Navya organised WWWW 2018 in Telugu Wikipedia. She also conducted Wiki awareness sessions and Wikidata workshops with her fellow co-ordinators.
Do you have any TTT alumnus (anyone who participated in TTT) in your team?
  • KCVelaga: With over 48000 contributions, he contributes en Wikipedia, WCommons and Wikidata. He led several events, and was crucial to establishing the club in college. He’ll be guiding us in organising.

CityName: Guwahati Community:Assamese wikimedia community edit

  • City: Guwahati, Assam.
  • Why do you want to host TTT 2019 in the city?
Assam or the Assamese wikimedia community has not organized any national level wiki event till date. So we would like to host the TTT event this year and the most convenient place would be state capital Guwahati. Guwahati is well connected with all the major places of India by air and train. The airport is about 20 Kms from the city and the railway station is within the city. It has plenty of options for the venue.
  • Do you have any venue in mind in your city?
There are a number of hotels with conference rooms and other facilities. They can be contacted upon confirmation of city and intimation of budget.
  • Who are the community members who will work on this? If you have discussed this with the members or on the village pump please share a link here.
