Re: edit
Your account is not blocked, nor it's meant to be. You seem to be using a VPN, which are blocked per m:NOP. So you just need to disable it while editing Wikipedia. Best, --Vituzzu (talk) 11:02, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
Hi, I don't know what a VPN is, and even after reading the Wikipedia article, I'm still utterly baffled (I'm not a techno-geek). I could scarcely disable something that I don't know what it is, where it is or how it even works. I'm just using a regular laptop computer that I've had for many years with a regular wireless connection. DJ Jones74 (talk) 02:08, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- Maybe you're using some McAfee program? Or antivirus-related programs advertising to be "protecting your privacy on the Internet"? --Vituzzu (talk) 00:09, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
No, not McAfee. I do have Kaspersky. But I'm not sure what an antivirus program would have to do with this causing a problem. Doesn't almost everyone online have an antivirus program ? I mean, when I'm editing, it clearly shows who I am, so I'm not trying to hide or engage in subterfuge. Forgive me if I sound ignorant on this business. As I said, I'm not a tech whiz, so this seems puzzling. *shrug* DJ Jones74 (talk) 08:01, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
- Some antiviruses have addons working as VPNs, in other words trying hiding your online identity, which is not bad per se but conflicts with m:NOP policy. If you open https://whatismyipaddress.com do you recognize your ISP? In other words the company you pay a fee for your Internet connection? --09:04, 25 August 2018 (UTC)
I clicked on the link and my ISP is right there on the page, so it doesn't show as anything "hidden." DJ Jones74 (talk) 14:19, 25 August 2018 (UTC)
