Wikisource Loves Manuscripts/Evaluation

This evaluation looks at the responses from the participants of various Wikisource Loves Manuscripts workshops organized by PPIM in Java, Bali, and Sumatra. 51 participants responded to the survey and this evaluation looks at some of the highlights from this survey.

• Gender - ~59% of the survey respondents identified as female while ~41% identified as male

Wikisource Loves Manuscripts is a call-to-action and a project to support the digitization of manuscripts on Wikisource.

Gender identity

• Primary language - Majority of the survey respondents (~47%) have reported Indonesian as their primary language on Wikimedia projects, followed by Minang (~25%) and Arabic (~18%).

• ~21% respondents were first-time Wikimedia workshop attendees while ~79% had participated in previous workshops

• A vast majority of the respondents (76%) were students of languages while 18% of them were language lovers. Two respondents were language or history teachers and one respondent was a recent Islamic history graduate.

• ~37% respondents learnt about the proofread-a-thon from their teacher while ~16% respondents participated in a previous workshop.
• ~12% learnt about it from a friend or a colleague while 10% learnt about it from social media. Another 10% mentioned that they learnt about it from the Wikisource Loves Manuscripts Meta-Wiki Page.

• Editing experience: ~33% respondents found it either easy or very easy to contribute to Wikisource while ~20% found it a little or very difficult. A vast group (~47% respondents) found it neither too difficult nor too easy.
