The problem is that in mapquest appears :" We have received requests from users who would like to type in an address and view the latitude/longitude coordinate. Due to contractual limitations, we are only able to display latitude/longitude coordinates provided by users".

This is, the trouble its know the city coordinates.

Where can one obtain them easily ( I will try geographical institute, i.e. ) using the web ??.

To obtain coordinates :

1. Look at a good printed map or atlas, visit your library

2. Use a GPS satellite navigator, if you have one

3. Look at a website built by GPS users, e.g. http://geourl.org/

  or http://www.findu.com/ or http://www.geocaching.com/

4. Look for "Waypoint" files

5. Google for the city name together with "latitude", "longitude",

  which gives hits like http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0001769.html

6. Look at a map website, e.g. http://www.mapquest.com/ or

  http://www.yahoo.com/

7. Look at a wiki that already uses map coordinates, e.g.

  http://susning.nu/

No matter where you find coordinates, always look to see if they seem reasonable.

( Thank you a lot Lars)

I have found another interesting link and include it in Wikipedia Geographic_coordinate(obtaining):

I wonder where commercial flight simulators like X-Plane and MicroSoft Flight Simulator get their whole world terrain data? I'll bet they didn't pay somebody to type it in! There is likely a bas releif map already available if we can figure out which gov agency to querry.
