Until now, most Wikipedia statistics have dealt either with the growth of the project as a whole or with individual language Wikipedias in relation to each other. This page seeks to group together Wikipedias into "Wikiregions", which are mostly based on geographical borders. The Wikipedias can be divided into the following "Wikiregions":
- English Wikiregion - a separate Wikiregion due to the size of the English Wikipedia and also because English is such a global language that it doesn't have any geographical boundaries anymore. Wikipedias included: English, Simple English
- Western European Wikiregion - includes French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Catalan, Galician, Luxembourgian, Welsh, Walloon, Frisian, Asturian, Low Saxon, Irish, Alemannic, Basque, Cornish, Scottish Gaelic, Sicilian, Aragonese, Occitan, Breton, Limburgish, Corsican, Rhaeto-Romance, Sardinian, Maltese and Manx Gaelic. French is included here because many of the contributors on the French Wikipedia are from France, although the language is also spoken in Africa and Canada in large proportions.
- Northern European Wikiregion - includes Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Estonian, Nynorsk, Lithuanian, Icelandic, Latvian, Faeroese, Northern Sami and Greenlandic.
