Wikimedia movement affiliates/IRC

Wikimedia movement affiliates are able to utilize Wikimedia's partnership with Freenode to hold discussions on IRC in various affiliate IRC channels.

Purpose

The Wikimedia movement affiliates IRC channels are meant to be a place for affiliates to hold discussions between members of individual affiliates and between affiliate organizations.

Examples of these discussions may include - but are certainly not limited to:

  • Online meetings for affiliate members or governing body.
  • Discussions on Wikimedia movement matters related to affiliates.
  • Developing and coordinating affiliate activities.
  • Planning for community-wide activities - such as Wiki Loves Monuments, the Wikimedia Foundation elections, or Wikipedia 15.
  • Collaboration between affiliates on activities - such as joint editathons or regional conferences.
