editWe held our New Work City Newbie Wiki Workshops in July and August.
We held a regular community meetup in August.
Oct-Dec 2011
editIn October, we held our first proper editathon with the MoMA University Event.
We also held two local events as part of developing the first annual Wikipedia Loves Libraries in October:
- Wikipedia Loves Libraries Workshop at Metropolitan New York Library Council
- Wikipedia The Musical editathon at New York Public Library for the Performing Arts
We held regular community meetups in November and December.
In December, we also achieved our 501(c)(3) designation.
Jan-Mar 2012
editIn January, we held Wikipedia Day XI, our third annual celebration, with NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program.
In February, we participated in two cultural outreach events, one building on the other:
- we sent a couple of representatives to GLAMcamp DC, and fortuitously got in touch with Q Miceli
- we sent a delegation and helped Q with organizing Princeton Editathon
We held a regular community meetup in March.
In March, we also helped set up WikiWomen's History Month with Wikimedia Foundation Community Fellow Sarah Stierch, and in this context assisted the local Barnard Editathon.
We also sent a couple of representatives to Wikimedia Conference 2012 in Berlin in March.
Apr-Jun 2012
editIn April, we presented Crowdsourcing Legal Knowledge w/Wikipedia for the BLIP Legal Hackathon at Brooklyn Law School, and also held Wiki-Gangs of New York, our second New York Public Library editathon.
In May, we held a classroom presentation at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and also sent a delegation to help Princeton Editathon 2.
In June, we held a staff presentation at the Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center, and also held our first proper Wikimedia New York City Annual Meeting.
