WikiMeetup Sylhet, January edit
First meetup of the year held on 13 January at Shahjalal University of Science & Technology, Sylhet. The meetup was attended by 16 wikimedians.

Wikipedia 15, the 15th anniversary of Wikipedia was celebrated on 15th January 2016 at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro in Dhaka. The program was organized by Wikimedia Bangladesh (WMBD). As part of the anniversary, a two-month-long 'Good Article Translation Contest' was held in the Bangla Wikipedia. The contest was intended to increase quality articles in the Bangla Wikipedia as well as engage new contributors. The winner of the contest was awarded a bicycle in the program. Over 50 Wikipedians from around Bangladesh participated the program. They shared their experiences and aspirations regarding Wikipedia. Noted filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki was present at the program as the special guest.

Annual General Meeting edit

The first Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Wikimedia Bangladesh was held on 15th January 2016 at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro. It was presided over by Munir Hasan. The AGM included a presentation of WMBD's activities from 2011 to 2015. The first ever election of the executive committee of the chapter WMBD was held at the AGM. Members of WMBD selected 9 members of the executive committee. The newly elected members are: Munir Hasan, Ali Haidar Khan, Tanvir Rahman, Shabab Mustafa, Tanweer Morshed, Nahid Sultan, Nurunnaby Chowdhury, Moheen Reeyad, Masum Al Hasan. The new executive committee will be valid for two years, from 2016 to 2018.
Digital Udvaboni Mela edit
Rajshahi wikipedia community attended the Digital Udvaboni Mela (Digital Innovation Fair) held in Rajshahi Collegiate School field, Rajshahi on 23 January, 2016.
12th Anniversary of Bengali Wikipedia celebration, Chittagong edit

12th Anniversary of Bengali Wikipedia celebration was held in Nippon Academy, Chittagong on 29th January, 2016. Poet Hafiz Rashid Khan, Shobuj Taposh & Muhammad Nurul Islam were present in that occasion. Wikipedia from Chittagong Intakhab, Tilottama Titlee, Rafaell Russell, Minar Mahmud, Sourav Baul Basu among many were also participated in the celebration. WMBD member Moheen Reeyad with Chittagong community organized the program.

First wikimeetup of Wikipedia Chittagong Community was held on 26th February, 2016 at Dampara, Chittagong. About 15 Wikipedians took part at the meetup and they discussed about Wiki movements, upcoming events and related issues, share experiences.
Wikipedia Workshop for Women edit
Gender gap, as like other parts of the world, is a crucial issue in the Wikimedia movement in Bangladesh. There is hardly any women contributor in Bangladesh. For the first time, a Wikipedia Workshop was held on 17th March, in Rajshahi targeted to impart hands-on training on Wikipedia. The workshop was conducted by Nahid Hossain and Masum Al Hasan Rocky. It was arranged by the Rajshahi Wikipedia Community in cooperation with Wikimedia Bangladesh. The workshop was attended by 9 women, who came to the event on their own interest.
WikiMeetup Dhaka, April edit
A meetup of Wikipedians was held on 30th April at Central Public Library premises. The meetup was attended by 9 Wikimedians. Wikimedia Conference 2016 participants from Bangladesh, Nurunnaby Chowdhury and Tanweer Morshed shared their experiences of the conference. Participants of the meetup discussed upcoming projects and events, grant procedure and ways to mitigate the recent abuse of Wikipedia Zero issue with Wikimedia Commons in Bangladesh.
WikiMeetup Rajshahi, May edit
A meetup of the Rajshahi Wikipedia Community was held in Rajshahi University campus on 4th May 2016. 16 Wikipedians attended the meetup, some of them were new Wikipedians. They discussed the upcoming programs of the community, educating the new Wikipedians, ways to increase women participation in the local Wikimedia movement and they shared experiences.
Wikipedia Workshop for Teachers edit
A workshop for teachers was held in Higher Secondary Teachers' Training Institute, Rajshahi on 3rd June 2016. Most of the viewers in wikipedia are student. In many cases wikipedia is a great resource for students. For the first time Rajshahi Wikipedia Community arranged a workshop specially for college teachers. More than 25 teachers from Higher Secondary Teachers' Training Institute, Rajshahi attended on that workshop. They shared experiences about how they collect updated information quickly from wikipedia articles. They were glad to know that wikipedia is also open for editing to them.

A meetup of the Rajshahi Wikipedia Community was held in a local restaurant on 19th June 2016. After fasting for whole day as Muslim ritual, wikipedians met to have ifter together.

A meetup of the Bogra Wikipedia Community was held in Bogra city on 12th August 2016. 6 Wikipedians attended the meetup.
Wiki Loves Monuments edit
Wiki Loves Monuments, the largest photography contest that is organized by Wikimedia affiliates around the world, is taking place for the first time in Bangladesh in September, 2016. Wikimedia Bangladesh is organizing the photography competition in the country and the local community is helping in the process. Seven photography clubs and organizations are associating Wikimedia Bangladesh. The competition has been covered by a number of major newspapers and print media.

WikiMeetup Chittagong, September edit
The 5th meetup of Wikipedia Chittagong Community was held on 9th September, 2016 at the Institute of Fine Arts, Chittagong University. Local Wikipedians took part at the meetup and they discussed on Wiki Loves Monuments competitions, upcoming events and related issues.
Wikipedia Photowalk Shibganj, Chapai Nawabganj edit
A photowalk was held at Shibganj Upazila, Chapai Nawabganj to increase the quality pictures for Wiki Loves Monument 2016 on 20 September. Shibganj is a land of archeological sites. It was known as the heart of Gour. Rajshahi Wikipedia Community with the help of Rajshahi Photographic Society arranged a photowalk. 2 professional photographer with 2 wikipedian attended the day long photowalk around this area.
Wikipedia Photowalk Puthia, Rajshahi edit
A photowalk was held at Puthia Temple Complex, Puthia, Rajshahi to increase the quality pictures for Wiki Loves Monument 2016 on 23 September.
Wikipedia Workshop at Notre Dame College, Dhaka edit
A workshop was held at Notre Dame College on 2 November, 2016. It was organized by Wikimedia Bangladesh in association with Notre Dame College Debating club. The workshop was attended by around 60 students of the college. They were informed about creating articles in Bangla Wikipedia, adding photographs in articles and uploading to Wikimedia Commongs. WMBD members Pratyya Ghosh and Ankan Ghosh conducted the workshop.

Wikipedia Workshop for BNNRC edit
A Wikipedia Workshop was held in the Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) headquarter in Dhaka on 27th November, 2016. BNNRC is a national networking body, working in the community radio and television sector with a focus on fostering development through access information. Executive Committee members of Wikimedia Bangladesh Nurunnaby Chowdhury, Nahid Sultan and Tanweer Morshed conducted the workshop. The participants were office staffs and executives of BNNRC, who intends to learn Wikipedia and Wiki culture with a view to spreading the movement through their radio network in the rural areas of Bangladesh. They hoped to hold further workshops in the future in association in Wikimedia Bangladesh.
WikiMeetup Dhaka, November edit
A WikiMeetup took place on November 5, 2016 at Bangladesh Open Source Network office in Dhaka. 11 Wikipedians took part in the meetup. As a regular meetup among the Wikipedians in Dhaka, it included discussion on ongoing agendas and upcoming Wiki activities.
Board Meeting edit
The regular Board Meeting of the Executive Committee of Wikimedia Bangladesh took place on November 5, 2016 at WMBD office in Dhaka. The meeting was followed by a WikiMeetup. Six EC members, including one from Germany participating virtually - were in the meeting. The ongoing activities and upcoming issues were discussed in the meeting.
WikiMeetup Sylhet, November edit
A WikiMeetup took place on November 18, 2016 in Central Shahid Minar, Sylhet. About 15 wikipedians from Sylhet community took part in the meetup. Wikipedia activities in Sylhet and future working plan were discussed.
WikiMeetup Barisal, November edit
A WikiMeetup took place on November 22, 2016 in Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat Textile Engineering College, Barisal. About 13 wikipedians from Barisal community took part in the meetup. This was the first ever WikiMeetup held in Barisal. Wikipedia activities in Barisal and future working plan were discussed.
WikiMeetup Rajshahi, November edit
The third WikiMeetup of the year in Rajshahi took place on November 28, 2016. More than 15 old and new Wikipedians took part in the meetup. Wikipedia activities in Rajshahi and future working plan were discussed. The new Wikipedians were welcomed and they were instructed to pursue contributions in other Wikimedia projects apart from the Bangla Wikipedia.
Wikipedia for Women edit
A Wikipedia workshop focusing on the gender gap took place on November 24, 2016 at World University of Bangladesh. The workshop, titled 'Wikipedia for Women' was conducted by WMBD members Nurunnaby Chowdhury, Nahid Sultan and Afifa Afrin. They described the need for women involvement in Wikipedia and ways to contribute in the most pressing sectors of the Wikimedia movement.
WikiMeetup Dhaka, December edit
The fourth Dhaka WikiMeetup of the year took place on December 3, 2016 in the Bangladesh National Museum. Around 15 Wikipedians took part in the meetup. As a regular meetup among the Wikipedians in Dhaka, it included discussion on ongoing agendas and upcoming Wiki activities. Director General of Bangladesh National Museum, Faizul Latif Chowdhury attended the Meetup and assured Wikimedia Bangladesh with a GLAM cooperation in order to making valuable photographs and documents available for the Wikimedia Projects.
Wikipedia Workshop at Govt. Azizul Haque College, Bogra edit

A workshop was held at Government Azizul Haque College in Bogra on December 4, 2016. The workshop was organized by Wikimedia Bangladesh and conducted by Wikipedia Rajshahi Community in association with Govt. Azizul Haque College. Over 50 students of the college participated in the workshop and they received training on ways to contribute to Wikimedia projects, apart from the effective use of Wikipedia for academic purposes. The workshop was conducted by WMBD member Masum al Hasan.
Edit-a-thon at Bangladesh National Museum edit
A daylong edit-a-thon was held in the Bangladesh National Museum on December 24, 2016. The event was organized by Wikimedia Bangladesh and supported by the museum authority. 25 Wikipedians participated in the edit-a-thon, where they developed the articles on liberation war of Bangladesh and issues of cultural significance. Wikipedians utilized the resources available in the museum, to improve the contents. The edit-a-thon produced 7 good articles related to the heroic freedom fighters of Bangladesh.
