Editing competition edit

Starting from August 3 and ending on September 2, we organised the "Macedonian Encyclopedia" reffering to the academic work with the same name, published by Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The competitors were designated to use material within the Enclyclopedia so they can create or imrove articles related about important Macedonian people, history, culture, science, art and etc. The final results are these: number of competitors - 4, created articles - 330, improved articles - 18. Concerning the prizes, adressing to the contesters with the most acumulated points, the top three users won one, plus an additional prize for the best edited article.

Editing days edit

Again we continued the series about editing about Macedonian archaeological sites. That's why the first day of the month was named "Archaeloogical sites at the region of Gevgelija", which accumulated 21 new articles by four participants. After that, "English counties" was on, and attracted four men who were able to make six new pages about the English administrative division of England. Continuing the series about Archaeology, the region of the town of Radoviš was activated. That's because the name "Archaeological sites at the region of Radoviš" editing day had produced 45 totally new articles with volunteer editing of four Wikipedians. Turning again towards art, on 10th, topic was "Paintings of Rembrandt", a day that gathered three users who wanted to be part of it and created 14 new articles about the artworks of the famous Dutch painter. Then Kumanovo region was on the spotlight because "Archaeological sites at the region of Kumanovo" was scheduled and was comprise of four people and the highly productive score of the created articles was 55 pages. 17th day of the month was dedicated for "Rulers of Czechia" that gave two articles out of two participants. Five days later, "Circulating currencies" has happened and two men edited six new articles. 18th September was dedicated for "Paintings of Claude Monet" and it concluded with twelve new articles by three persons. At the last day of this month, a astronomy topic was chosen - "Moons of Uranus". That day two Wikipedians participated and created three articles.

Sketch lessons edit

In September, the archaelogist was interested in Ancient Egypt. So she created two articles about Egyptian princesses and later about a character of the Greek mythology. Then a new member has joined this project, a student from music section at the University of Štip, and improved one article and created three articles about history of Macedonian music.

Editing weekends edit

The first weekend was appointed as "Architecture" and was compiled of seven users who created 16 new pages. The next one was "Theorems" and this weekend was participated by three Wikipedians and they edited eight new creations of articles. 19 and 20 September was focused on "Birds" which got attention of three persons and they wrote five new articles. The last weekend 'hosted' the title "Fashion" due to engaging the international initiative "Wiki Loves Fashion". So, those two days resulted in 17 brand new articles and one created template by four participants.

Wikitour Veles 2020 edit

On 5th, September we continued our community program support by the Government of the Republic of Macedonia for which funds have been approved for the project "Education through Wikipedia", we managed to make a group of people and headed to Lake Mladost located near the town of Veles and later we went to Veles itself. The point was to go somewhere at open area so the group could edit on various topics. The Wikigroup consisted of twelve people. Hence at that time, the eiditing weekend "Architecture" was on, so three users edited six articles about this topic. Two Wikipedians via WikiTranslate produced two articles related about Ancient Egypt. One person wrote two pages about history of Macedonian music and the last edited wanted to contribute in an economy article so she created one. Being there, some of the participants took photos of the Lake's landscape and the headed to Veles. The goal in Veles was to took photographies of buildings listed as cultural heritage of Macedonia. By making to tour in Veles, we managed to take photos of seven houses listed as cultural heritage plus additional media of other building and places. Then, after we fulfilled this task, we went again at Mladost Lake, so the Wikigroup could have lunch at a restoraunt on the coast off the Lake.

Kičava and Rabetinkol Wikiexpedition edit

On September 19 and up to the following day, the first Wikiexpedition was organised and very first expedition in general. Four participants headed to the two municipalities of Plasnica and Kičevo. The goal was to visit, note, photograph the unvisited villages, local landscapes, and other features good enough to be recorded. Considering that a total of 35 villages (4 in Plasnica and 31 in Kičevo Municipality) got explored within the two municipalities, this is a record breaking Wikiexpedition. The Municipality of Plasnica was totally covered and big portion of Municipality of Kičevo was visited. The length of the distance traveled was 510 kilometers of the two way trip. In addition, seven articles got created and five were improved. 544 images were uploaded.

Veloexpedition to Poreče edit

One day prior Wikiexpedition, user Ehrlich91 decided to visit some villages in the remote area Poreče, visited in 2017. Planned route included visiting remaining villages, accessible only with dirty roads. Veloexpedition proved to be successful, as we managed to visited 7 villages and took 60 distinct images from those villages, its old churches and other buildings.

Photohunt in Municipality of Kratovo edit

In September the photohunt project made his debut this year. On 27th, the user and photographer-enthusiast 44martin88 went from Skopje to visit and photograph the non-covered villages, reffering to the Macedonian Wikipedian community, of Municipality of Kratovo. Also, his goal was to cover most of the buildings and structures listed as cultural heritage of Macedonia. During his approximately 7 hour "run", he managed to visit the villages of Konjuh and Stracin and he photographed 17 sites listed as cultural heritage in Kratovo. Overall, he uploaded 25 photos and 88% percent are used on Macedonian Wikipedia already.

Wiki loves Sustainable Development Goals initiative edit

 
 

We, Shared Knowledge joined the international initiative Wiki loves Sustainable Development Goals and represented it to the Macedonian Wikipedian community what it means as a movement, their influece, and we organised a week period editing contest with prizes. From September 19 to September 26, seven people joined this 'weekedit' and they created exactly 100 articles and improved one. To enter in possible award winning, the contesters had cover at least 25 articles. The original plan was to give three awards for the top three participants but because only two user got over 25 articles, those two got their well earned prizes.

WikiGap Skopje 2020 edit

On September 30, a local event in form of a edit-a-thon was organised by the global Swedish initiative WikiGap with goals to surpase the gender gap, which exist on Wikipedia itself, and it is in organisation by the Swedih embassy in Skopje, the office of the Body of the United Nations for gender equality and empowerement of the women (UN Women) in Skopje, us as Shared Knowledge, and other partners coming from the nongoverment sector in order to enrich the Macedonian Wikipedia with articles about famous women from Macedonia. This event was the third one, after the first edition in 2018 and the second in 2019. The difference is that this time, the event was held without physical presence of the editors, because of the widespread of the corona virus pandemic. The event was dedicated to the influential women throughout the history who worked in the field of medicine. 18 participants were part of this variant of edit-a-thon and they created 61 and improved 2 articles.
