CIS-A2K has been facilitating re-licensing process in collaboration with Marathi community, authors, copyright holders and organisations in Maharashtra. In the last three years more than 250 reference value works were released under CC-BY-SA 4.0 and uploaded on Wikimedia Commons. The literature covers wide range of subjects - social issues, women empowerment, legal aid, culture, short stories, essays, agricultural issues, critiques, mental health, national conflicts, philosophy, biodiversity, education, thematic encyclopedias etc. The integration and searchability of Wikimedia projects attracted the attention of the stakeholders. The initiative taken by eminent and influential personalities for re-licensing their works also provided impetus to the movement. The generous contribution of more than 30 authors/copyright holders and 8 organisations has given impetus to this movement. The re-licensing process created need for local digitisation set-up. One of the institutional partner of CIS-A2K, Vigyan Ashram has taken initiative to develop this set-up on their campus at Pabal, a village in Pune district of Maharashtra. The books are being sent by the authors or copyright holders directly to Vigyan Ashram for processing. The efforts are being taken to make this process sustainable in future.
