Language counts include closed wikis and count "Simple English" as a separate language when such a wiki exists within a project.

  • Several Wikisources have "shrunk" below notable milestones as a result of this month's regularly-scheduled recount — probably because of recent changes to the 'wgContentNamespaces' configuration variable, which specifies which namespaces are included in each wiki's "article count". (Note: the "current" article counts listed below are for 22 minutes after midnight UTC on Dec 22nd; the recount occurred at 5 a.m. UTC on Dec 21st.)
    • The English Wikisource has fallen below 600,000 text units (currently at 559,862 text units, a 23% drop from 24 hours before).
    • The French Wikisource has fallen below 300,000 text units (currently 243,891, a 79% drop).
    • The Italian Wikisource has fallen below 100,000 text units (currently 92,169, a 14% drop).

    • The Swedish Wikisource has fallen below 15,000 text units (currently 14,134, a 62% drop).

  • The Kyrgyz Wikipedia has reached 50,000 articles, as a bot has added thousands of short articles about places in the United States.
17
  • The Arabic Wikipedia has reached 400,000 articles.
  • The Tajik Wikipedia has reached 40,000 articles.
  • The Thai Wiktionary has reached 60,000 entries; the entry count has now risen by about 60% since the beginning of December (which means over 35% of the current entries are for individual Chinese characters).
  • The Romanian Wikibooks has fallen below 1,000 book modules (currently at 833), after some works were deemed to fall outside of the project's criteria for inclusion.
14
  • The Mongolian Wiktionary has reached 5,000 entries (a very low "article count" given the recent bot activity on the wiki [see December 11th, below] — the vast majority of edits the bot is making are resulting in entries containing no wikilinks).
13
12
11
  • The Mongolian Wiktionary has reached 100,000 page edits, as a bot has been modifying thousands of entries over the last few days — most of which, it seems, the same user initially created about a year ago.
  • The Punjabi Wikipedia has reached 20,000 articles.
  • The Catalan Wikinews has reached 10,000 total pages.
9
  • The Asturian Wikipedia has reached 1,000,000 page edits.

  • The Kongo Wikipedia has reached 1,000 articles.
  • The Catalan Wikisource has fallen below 10,000 text units (currently at 7,111), apparently as a result of being recounted (since there is no obvious editing or deletion activity that would explain the large change).

  • The Hawaiian Wikipedia has reached 2,000 articles, as an IP editor has added dozens of essentially empty "year" stubs (up through 2074!), clearly for the sole purpose of pushing the wiki to that milestone; the Hawaiian on these pages is not completely accurate (if at all), so the pages should either be corrected by someone who knows Hawaiian or they should be deleted by a cross-wiki admin.
  • The Kyrgyz Wikipedia has reached 40,000 articles due to bot activity.
  • The Serbian Wiktionary has reached 20,000 entries due to bot activity.
  • The Oriya Wikisource has reached 10,000 page edits.
  • The English Wikiversity has reached 20,000 uploaded files.

  • The Malayalam Wikipedia has reached 40,000 articles.
  • The Sesotho Wiktionary has reached 10,000 page edits (note that almost every entry on the wiki contains English text that needs translating into Sesotho).

  • The Korean Wikiquote has reached 500 content pages.
  • The Sindhi Wikipedia has reached 2,000 articles, as a local admin has created dozens of "skeleton" pages (i.e., containing a template but no actual content) for years in the 9th century.
  • The Serbian Wikiquote and the Usability wiki (closed for regular edits) have each reached 10,000 page edits, as a maintenance script has been moving user pages for recently renamed users.

  • The long march toward Single User Login is entering its final phase, as 1.5 million user accounts are being renamed to ensure that each account name is unique and refers to the same user across all Wikimedia projects.

  • The German Wikiversity has reached 20,000 learning modules (up almost 15,000 from the count 24 hours ago), apparently the result of the on-wiki stats being recalculated (neither recent edits nor page imports can account for the jump).
