Wikimedia Hackathon Kochi - 2024
The forthcoming Wikimedia Hackathon Kochi – 2024 is organized through a collaboration between amFOSS (Amrita University's Free and Open Source Software Club) and the Indic MediaWiki Developers User Group (Indic-TechCom) on May 25-26. amFOSS, established at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, is an active student-run community dedicated to promoting contributions to free and open-source software. The club has been active for over 14 years with 50+ active members. Indic MediaWiki Developers User Group (aka Indic-TechCom) is a group of volunteers, from both within and outside India, providing technical support to various Indian language Wikimedia projects (for example, Wikipedia) and also organizing outreach for contributors in India to Wikimedia technical spaces. Last year, both the groups organized a hackathon at Amrita University.

The upcoming event is planned to be a 30-hour non-stop event (with some break and social activities) starting at 9 am on May 25 to 6 pm on May 26. During the event, participants will be introduced the Wikimedia technical spaces such as MediaWiki core, bots, gadgets, user scripts, and have the opportunity to work on tasks that contribute to them.
Participation edit
- We are expecting to have around 30-40 participants in total.
- You can register using this Google Form (deadline: 28 May)
- As this is not a workshop, participants are expected to have some kind of programming experience.
- Please note that will not be able to accommodate all the registrations, we will reach out to you by the first week of May to confirm your participation.
- We will be providing local travel reimbursement for people travelling within Kochi to the venue.
