Contributions to the Wikimedia projects, memberships in Wikimedia organizations or affiliates, activities as a Wikimedia movement organizer, or participation with a Wikimedia movement ally organization. (100 word maximum)	I joined Spanish Wikipedia in 2006, Spanish Wikinews three years later, and since then served as an admin, bureaucrat, and ombudsman. I joined the Wikimedia movement in 2010 when I started developing Wikimedia Mexico, which I founded and led as Chair until 2018. Under my leadership, Wikimedia México signed more than 20 agreements, conducted and managed +300 events including the Guinness Record of Longest Editathon in 2016 and supported the development of new editions of Wikipedia in Languages of Mexico. Also I have been part of Wikimedia volunteer committees such as Universal Code of Conduct drafting group, Leadership Development Working Group, Wikimania Fostering Commitee, and Diversity working group of the Wikimedia Strategy 2030.

This is the area in which I feel I can collaborate with the greatest strength. Professionally speaking, since 2016 I am a Human Rights Defender at one of the leading organizations in Latin America working at the intersection of technology and Human Rights. In my daily job I’m involved in projects related to Privacy, Freedom of Expression, Misinformation, Access to Internet, Net Neutrality, Indigenous Languages and Access to Knowledge. My daily work involves advocacy in government, legislative and corporate environments, Policy Writing with Human Rights perspective and Community Relations. I’m also the founder and current manager of the Creative Commons chapter in Mexico since 2018, having been in charge of the revamping of the organization after the CC Strategy implementation. I have also been a volunteer advisor in the drafting and implementation of Creative Commons free licensing policies for the most important cultural and educational entities in my country, such as the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the national Secretariat of Culture. Organizational strategy and management. Being part of the Wikimedia movement I have gained experience in these topics, being founder of my country's chapter and also coordinator of Wikimania 2015, also I was a member of the Grants Advisory Committee for several years, and I continue in the Conference Support Grants Committee as well as I was recently elected in the Leadership Working Group. In addition, I worked for 3 years at a large marketing and events company in Mexico that managed large US million budgets where I was in charge of the creative proposal of large-scale shows.
Lived experiences in the world. We are especially interested in reading about lived experiences in the regions of Africa, South Asia, East and South East Asia & Pacific, and Latin America & Caribbean. We believe that experience in these regions could help expand the board’s ability to fulfill the movement strategy goal of more equitable participation, although we recognize that other experiences may also provide important contributions. (250 word maximum)	Like the vast majority of people in my region, Latin America, I did not have the privilege of being able to seek an opportunity to live outside of Mexico, as I had to work from a very young age. Instead, in every opportunity I have had in Wikimedia I have always defended the Latin Americanist and pan-regional vision that shaped, among other projects, the Iberocoop initiative in 2010 and due to the volunteer work in all this time with colleagues from all over the region I am aware of the challenges and opportunities we have in our countries. As I mentioned, I was part of the Diversity Group of Strategy 2030, and I have been a permanent advocate for inclusion and linguistic diversity in our movement.

(250 word maximum)	Like the vast majority of people in my region, Latin America, I did not have the privilege of being able to seek an opportunity to live outside of Mexico, since I had to work from a very young age. On the other hand, I have always defended a Latin American and pan-regional vision in the Wikimedia movement having as a result among other projects, the Iberocoop initiative in 2010 and due to volunteer work throughout this time with colleagues from all over the region, I am aware of the challenges and opportunities that we have in our countries. I have been involved in the organization of the Iberoconf regional conference for several years and have participated in many initiatives of a regional nature alongside my colleagues from Latin America. Culturally speaking, I have recently been working on my career as a composer of songs and music released under Creative Commons licenses.
Experience as an advocate for creating safe and collaborative spaces for all and/or experience in situations or contexts of censorship, repression, or other attacks to human rights. (250 words maximum)	I have been an activist since 1999 when I actively joined a student movement at my university in defense of public education. From that date until now I have integrated a number of collectives, groups and social movements. As I mentioned, I have been a human rights defender since 2016 and in that work I have gained experience in advocacy and defense in a country that has a deep human rights crisis. In those efforts I have worked directly with the Wikimedia Foundation Policy Team several times such as the 2012 internet blackout by SOPA as well as a local version, Ley Doring in 2014; recently I worked with WMF and the Wikimedia community in Mexico in #SalvemosInternet campaign for the defense of Net Neutrality in my country and the protests and legal actions against the legislative changes for copyright and DRM #NiCensuraNiCandados. Also I recently participated in the organization of #NoAlPadrón coalition, a campaign that sought to reverse the implementation of a national telephone registry with biometric data that irreversibly would affect the right to privacy in Mexico. In April 2022, the Mexican Supreme Court took arguments from our coalition to dismiss the project. In general I have been a volunteer advisor on reactive actions against Policy and Law issues and legislative changes to fellow volunteers in Argentina, Bolivia and Chile. I have contributed my perspectives with my experience in a meeting organized by the Policy team in Madrid in 2019 and I have gone to the call as many times as necessary to the Wikimedia Foundation team with local and regional feedback and information. I am also co-founder of the Wikiproyecto:Derechos Humanos in Spanish Wikipedia and participate in the efforts of the WikiDerechosHumanos project in Latin America. In that sense, my participation in the drafting of the Universal Code of Conduct was focused on contributing my experience as a Human Rights defender.
Experience in relation to (or as a member of, to the extent you choose to share) a group that has faced historical discrimination and underrepresentation in structures of power (including but not limited to caste, race, ethnicity, colour, national origin, nationality, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, religion, language, culture, education, abilities, income and environment). (250 word maximum)	I come from a lower-middle class family and have a skin color that is racialized in my country, so I know the challenges of being part of an oppressed class. I myself in my life history have had to fight against exclusion and lack of opportunities. Therefore, my ongoing determination in the movement both in my work as an editor and in the Wikimedia movement is conditioned by those motivations. I am also absolutely empathetic in today's diversity struggles as I consider myself a gender-dissident male person.
