Wikimedia Foundation Events team
The Community Events Team is a part of the Operations Department at the Wikimedia Foundation. Our team is here to support you in any of your community event's needs. We see our work with all events organizers as a partnership and wish to provide you with the best service possible.
Our team hosts informal monthly community office hours! Come stop in and introduce yourself, ask your questions or chat with us. Details about upcoming office hours here.
Events are an important part of the infrastructure in the Wikimedia movement, enabling movement building, knowledge sharing, partnership and outreach opportunities, and much more. They enable us to connect, to learn from one another, to collaborate on shared goals, and to unify around common agendas.
Our vision is to have a global events ecosystem that fosters a thriving movement for all. We wish to do that by developing and designing events to serve a global, diverse and innovative community, by supporting mission-aligned people and organizations around the world to increase the quantity, quality, diversity and reach of free knowledge.
Community Engagement Survey
We are now launching our first Community Engagement Survey and we are looking for your ideas, inputs and suggestions!
Following Movement strategy recommendations, for the first phase of this community engagement, we are targeting 4 focus areas:
- Capacity building
- Newcomer strategy for first time event participants
- Events team office hours
In this survey you will be asked to identify and prioritize the capacity practices, needs and tools you believe are most needed for your local community’s development.
The data you'll provide will be the basis for new tools, training processes, services and resources we will build in the coming months.
To fill out the survey by January 31st, 2020, please click here. The survey has 20 questions and should not take more than 10-12 minutes.
Thank you so much for your engagement!
This survey will be conducted via a third-party service, which may subject it to additional terms. For more information on privacy and data-handling, see the survey privacy statement
