National Volunteer's network

National Volunteer's network of Kazakhstan is the project that combines all the Wikipedians (mostly beginners) who are willing to write new and edit existing articles. Throughout 2020 and 2021 our UG and members from other wiki projects helped to carry this project on. The articles are all about Kazakhstan and written in Kazakh/Russian languages. The coaching of the participants were done online - on Zoom. 269 articles were created and 928 edits were made in 2020.

Schools

• Administrator of Kazak wikipedia user:Kaiyr made online meeting on 27 april 2021 with pupils of Karaganda Nazarbayev Intellectual school.

Turkic Marathon

Turkic Marathon is an annual Wikipedia editing contest, which is carried out on the initiative and organization of Wikimedia Turkic UG with the support and with active cooperation with local Turkic Wikimedia affiliations, including Kazakh language User Group.

• Turkic Marathon 2020

Turkic Marathon 2020 was held in June month (June 1 - June 30, 2020). The page dedicated to it was created in Kazakh Wikipedia. All the active Wikipedians were invited. 5 users have participated. The top 3 were given the prizes of $150, $100 and $50 worth accordingly.

• Turkic Marathon 2021

In 2021 the same Turkic Marathon was conducted in July month (from 1st til 31st of July). The special page was created. All the active Wikipedians were invited. Only 1 user has participated. As a jury we decided to grant him $100 instead of $75 due to the fact that he was the only contestant and almost all of his articles (the number of the articles exceeded the required one) met the contest requirements.

Representation on media

in 2021 one of the admins of Kazakh Wikipedia user:Batyrbek.kz was interviewed on Instagram account of the news website Azattyq. The page has quite a large audience and there was s discussion regarding the importance of Wikipedia in spreading the knowledge and in every day life.

in 2020-2021 other of the admins of Kazakh Wikipedia user:Kaiyr was interviewed by regional newspaper Noviy Vestnik on Wikipedia bitrhday (15.01.2020) and was interviewed by information agency Azattyk ruhy (09.08.2021).
