Abstract (up to 100 words)

In 2018, a new course was launched at Tel Aviv University -- the first, for-credit, elective course featuring Wikidata. This session will explore the accumulated experience from 3 iterations of the course. It will also highlight other examples of using Wikidata for educational purposes globally, as they emerged in a PhD research that focuses on Wikidata's potential as a learning platform. Following the presentation, a live discussion will focus on the implications of the existing example to a wider educational perspective, what could be learned from them, and what are some of the challenges and opportunities in the CEE context.

How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region of Central and Eastern Europe?

Attendees will:

  • Be exposed to different example from around the world of using Wikidata for educational purposes
  • Become aware of the advantages of Wikidata for Education
  • Explore some of the challenges and opportunities of implementing Wikidata into Education, GLAM and research in the CEE.
Do you plan to pre-record a video with a presentation?
