- Abstract (up to 100 words)
SQL is a powerful and comparatively easy, but not widely known, tool to make queries about articles, categories, users, etc. People who organize article contests may find it very useful to be able to make a query "List of articles created during certain period and belonging to certain category". For patrols the query "New users who made more than 100 edits during last week" might be useful. For filemovers a query "Files with title smaller than 8 letters" might be handy. Wikipedians interested in aircraft might use a query "All pages whose title contains the word 'aircraft'". This tool enables to get needed information in seconds, which would otherwise take hours to collect.
- How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region of Central and Eastern Europe?
Every community should have at least one user able to make queries in SQL, which would make activities in Wikimedia projects for members of those communities much more efficient in some situations.
