Summary

This talk, aimed at complete beginners, introduces the Wikimedia Movement's latest major wiki project: Wikidata. It covers what Wikidata is, how to contribute new data to Wikidata, how to create an entirely new item on Wikidata, how to embed data from Wikidata into pages on other wikis, tools like the Wikidata Game, Article Placeholder, Reasonator, and Mix-and-match.

Expected outcomes

People who have not engaged with Wikidata so far will feel enabled and inspired to do so.

I have delivered versions of this talk at last year's CEE Meeting in Armenia, as well as in various Wikimedia conferences elsewhere. Note that I am planning a 2-hour version this time, instead of the 3-hour version, leaving out the SPARQL/Query part, on the assumption that that would be covered by a separate submission.
