    • I believe that the most useful project in the wikimedia stable for this kind of idea would be wikisource. An edition in one of the languages e.g. Tiwi would be the perfect place to write down the stories, mythologies, first-hand accounts from elders etc. Whilst creating a wikipedia edition is a possibility in the future I think the first step in incorporating Australian Aboriginal content into wikimedia projects should be the one that has a lowest barrier to entry. • All projects only support a single language, which means there must be a sizable online community that speak the same Australian Aboriginal language, and that language must have a ISO code. There is a requirement that the website be translated into this language, however that requirement could be downplayed or overlooked for the first project in any language. In order for an Aboriginal language Wikisource to be supported, it would desirable to have an "A" or "good" rating for the (yet to be written) article w:Indigenous Australian literature - see RfnL/vec.ws.
Languages do not get a Wikisource subdomain initially. Works in any language without a sub-domain are collected on Multilingual Wikisource until there is obviously a stable community and a good collection already. That effort can commence immediately. However, Wikisource only accepts published works. If it hasnt been published in a traditional sense, or it isnt clearly free of copyright, it will be deleted.
A great majority of sources about Australian Aboriginals is in English; I've started collecting resources here. John Vandenberg 08:26, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
