Hong Kong is one of the two special administrative regions (SARs) of the [[w:People's Republic of China|--Manhunt12 11:55, 29 September 2009 (UTC)Taipei]] (PRC). Hong Kong is on the eastern side of the Pearl River Delta on the southeastern coast of China, facing the South China Sea in the south, and bordering Guangdong Province in the north. Hong Kong is an immensely wealthy city due to the fact that it has one of the world's most liberal economies, and is a major international centre of finance and trade.[reply]

  • Hong Kong boasts a developed and extensive public transport network. Typical journeys within the city by MTR, its underground railway system, are less than 30 minutes. Other means of public transport include buses, taxis, ferries, trams, and the Peak Tram.
  • The Chinese University of Hong Kong is situated in the suburban areas of Hong Kong, served by KCR East Rail's University Station. Journeys to/from the city take approximately 20 minutes.

  • Weaknesses of the proposed location ...and how to overcome those weaknesses
  1. It rains a lot during the summer months in Hong Kong. There may be also typhoons.
    Nothing can be done about the weather. However, contingency plans can be prepared.
  2. Only people from selected (42) cities in Mainland China can access to Hong Kong easily.
    No soulution can be found yet.
  3. The active Wikipedians in Hong Kong are mostly not mature enough, as they are mostly from high schools, they lack the experience in organizating big functions. There might be also some childish Wikipedians would spoil the Wikimania, as like in the CWMC2006.
    Age limit for helpers should be set.
  4. The guest would feel tired if they visit HK for the simular type of job in two consecutive years.

  1. Hong Kong has the experience of holding Chinese Wikimedia Conference 2006, the first regional conference organized by the community of Chinese Wikimedians.
  2. Hong Kong is one of the famous city, as the merging point of Eastern and Western cultures.
  3. Hong Kong has a relatively low price index compared to Western countries.
  4. English is one of the official languages in Hong Kong, with many people speaking fluent English.
  5. Internet and computers are very common in Hong Kong.
  6. Hong Kong has a good airways network. Direct flights connect many cities all over the world.
  7. Hong Kong has a great intra-city transport network as well.
  8. Hong Kong is one of the most freedom of speech place in East Asia.
  9. The crime rate in Hong Kong is among the lowest in the world. There is no indication that Hong Kong is a target for terrorist activites.
  10. Hong Kong has a lot of shopping places, catering places and tourist attractions.
  11. Hong Kong mass media is well developed.
