Wiki Loves Naija Tradtions 2024
WikI Loves Naija Tradition 2024 This project's aim to address the underrepresentation of Nigerian cultures, traditions, and notable traditional leaders on Wikimedia projects. By filling existing content gaps, we aim to provide comprehensive and accurate information about Nigeria's rich cultural heritage and esteemed traditional leaders. In doing so, we not only preserve our heritage but also educate and inform a global audience about the diversity and significance of Nigerian traditions. This initiative offers a valuable opportunity to document and celebrate the rich tapestry of Nigerian cultural practices, ensuring they are recognized and appreciated worldwide..
Objectives for the project
edit1.Enhance Representation of Nigerian Cultures and Traditions: Increase the presence of comprehensive and accurate information about Nigerian cultural heritage and notable traditional leaders on Wikimedia projects.
2. Address Content and Gender Gaps: Reduce the significant lack of information about Nigerian traditional leaders, cultural practices, and the contributions of women in preserving and promoting these traditions on Wikimedia platforms.
3. Conduct Comprehensive Training Sessions: Organize online and in-person training sessions to equip both new and existing editors with the necessary skills to create and improve articles on Wikimedia projects, ensuring high-quality contributions.
4. Facilitate Content Creation and Improvement: Encourage participants to create new articles and improve existing ones related to Nigerian traditional leaders and traditions, with a focus on closing knowledge and gender gaps.
5. Sustain a Collaborative Editing Community: Establish a lasting community through a WhatsApp group, providing continuous support, collaboration opportunities, and motivation to contribute high-quality content to Wikimedia projects, ensuring long-term engagement and commitment.
