WikiMed encyclopedia

Wikipedia is in the first place where people around the world visit to know about something in detail. As an editor, I understand the steps and care taken for the reliability of the content that is provided. These days we can see websites and encyclopedia about a Medicines (Tablets, Syrups, Injections and etc...). There are websites which are competing to the wiki on this field. That's why I propose to have a new project in name of WikiMed/WikiHealth that includes details of drugs. Chemical components used, Precautions, When should it be taken, Possible side effects and etc.. are some details that could bring up a useful information for visitors. To explain medical conditions as well. I found there is a project since 2012 in Wiki Project Med . The new proposal can be merged as a project along with it and having a stand alone new project will be very fruitful. Need volunteers and Experts for discussion.

This is a proposal for a new Wikimedia sister project.

  2.   Support. This would be a Vademecum. Information is provided and edited by the drug laboratories and FDA, as well (only about their dugs). For all the drugs all over the world. It can be interesting, but would change the name to another one (WikiDrugs, WikiMecum?). BoldLuis (talk) 23:06, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
  3.   Support. WIKIPEDIA DOES NOT GIVE MEDICAL ADVICE--Kitabc12345 (talk) 05:34, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

We made a conscious choice not to include medication doses years ago. We felt that (1) the wiki model just want not stable enough to manage this level of detail (2) it was overly detailed for a general encyclopedia. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 15:34, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

To quote you "it was overly detailed for a general encyclopedia." Which this is not, this is a more specialised encyclopedia so it would be more ib scope. --Donald Trung (Talk 🤳🏻) (My global lock 😒🌏🔒) (My global unlock 😄🌏🔓) 11:48, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

Assuming that this would be freely editable by all? If so, would edits be filtered? Would medical experts be flagged as such? hiàn 04:08, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

  1.   Comment Could the general idea of this be merged into Wikipedia? SelfieCity (talk) 03:31, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
  •   Oppose I think that a separate wikiproject for such a purpose is not ideal. Wikibooks seems to work around the same basis (See here). And what if this becomes a vandalism hotspot? Wrong medical advice can lead to a lawsuit or major reputation degradations of the WMF. Arep Ticous 08:35, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
  •   Oppose This is a really good proposal ... for a book on Wikibooks. Not so much a separate WMF project entirely. — 🍕 Yivan000 viewtalk 02:20, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
  •   Question: I like the idea in general but does it necessarily need to be its own project? Random Wikimedian (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 15:49, 25 February 2021.
  •   Oppose. See Wikibooks. --Hérisson grognon (talk) 12:52, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
