Notes
edit- Indexing
- Next target is Web of Science - form is similar to Scopus
- Do both WJM and WJS at the same time
- https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Category:WikiJournal_indexing_applications
- Technical editors
- HR onboarding has been happening quite a bit
- Brought on as contractors - 2 so far have signed
- option to be employees, though other employment may require exclusivity
- We can add tasks for technical editors on the task page
- Ukrainian WikiJournal proposal - invited speaker Oleksiy Boldyriev
- In Ukraine, language barrier to publish in international academic journals
- Ukrainian language journals can have bad reputation for non-thorough peer review
- Therefore interested in the WikiJournals open peer reviewed model
- Several academics & wikipedians within ukrainian community interested in testing
- Suggested to do a special issue of WikiJSci for Ukrainian research as test.
- Ukrainian language with english abstract translations
- Enables interested editors to see how the process works
- Minimises setup times
- Ensures initial support
- Wikimania wrap up
- Andrew and Thomas did a presentation and short discussion sessions
- Received positive feedback from attendees (good sample of wikipedia community)
- Conference presentations
- Need for presenters
- Kelee and Eric expressed interest in presenting if assisted
- Need a slide deck and a script
- Slide decks in this presentations folder
- Thomas can answer questions in preparing (deciding on slide composition, discussion points etc)
- Potential for adding conference to a Wikiversity page with details: timezone, registration requirements, details about individual conferences
- Wikiconference North America (October 8-10)? (draft submission)
- Have put in submission with placeholder speaker, so waiting on conf. Organisers to indicate timeslot
- Open Publishing Fest (November 8-19)?
- 24-hour conference, so we can propose our own preferred timeslot
- Need for presenters
- Potential publication idea
- Idea to write a comparative analysis article across all WikiJournals, comparing subscription/paywall vs other OA journals vs pre-prints vs WikiJournals
- Last summary editorial was 2018 (and was WikiJSci specific)
- Is useful to have something to point potential contributors to
- Industry comparison by business students in course Eric is assisting with
- Additional description of author experience
- Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology is a good example of more detailed documentation
- Checklists
- Clearer info for different publication types
- “Don’t surprise your friends” = making sure people expect any differences
- 1 Minute summaries of final agenda items for which time ran out (Marked X in agenda)
Action items
