- The Wiktionary, a Wikimedia project less known than its big brother Wikipedia, is a free and open dictionary that aims to describe nothing less than all the words of all the languages. In addition to definitions, the Wiktionary provides much more lexicographic data (synonyms, pronunciation, related vocabularies, ...). This lecture will first present what is the Wiktionary, focused on the French edition. Then, the lecture will discussed about the advantages of the Wiktionnaries to preserve minority languages. Some examples about contributions on languages spoken in Africa (Afrikaans, Lingala, Koyraboro Senni Songhai and also Arabic, English, French, ...) will be presented. Simple ways to contribute will be presented.
