Confirmation of username change request
editI, Kontos, confirm that I want my global username to be changed to Sanyi4 (which I also own, but have not used it yet). Kontos (talk) 22:17, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
I, Sanyi4, confirm that the owner of this username (me) is identical with the owner of the username Kontos. Sanyi4 (talk) 22:23, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
Re: Single User Login finalisation
editHi Sanyi4, first of all you should only be concerned about accounts with edits. Those with 0 edits you can just happily leave them behind.
For renames, we can only do it for you on wikis without local bureaucrats. We have not yet have a global rename policy.
For your specific concern, if you can't get your account renamed in time, I recommend you still create your global account now, so that your accounts won't be split into Kento~elwiki and so on. While you will have new accounts created on log-in, they will have 0 edits and it should not be a problem. --Bencmq (talk) 16:42, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
- Is there any policy that "accounts with no edits must not be renamed!" or something like that?
- It is the usual convention, but if you really want it you can request it.
- If the forced renamings of the "Single User Login finalisation" are managed globally, why is it necessary in my case to request renaming on every single wiki? The accounts not attached to global users are to be renamed anyway, without local approval (as I know). - is it possible to do the forced renamings not according to the formula (adding the suffix ~xx), but to my new username?
- No, either you merge them now, or set all email address to the same (so the system treats them as the same account even though it is not merged). Global rename is possible only after the 'SUL finalisation', The process has not yet start.
- Rename request
- I'll look into that.

- To be honest with you, I have no idea, since everything is still 'in development'. But I believe that will be possible. --Bencmq (talk) 10:28, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
editHello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Kontos. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Kontos~metawiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
