Hi there, back :)Edit
- cross posted from User talk:Who
Hey, thanks for the note. Yea, I dont mind so much, mostly just wanted for cleanup, been trying to do as much as I can when I have the time. RFD goes real slow here, but thats understandable, the admins here have many other jobs to do. Cheers. ∞Who?¿? 09:07, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
Re English WikipediaEdit
I understand u were in conflect with other editors over there and also that your Microsoft article was promoted to FA but everyone over here in en is missing u gravely and we are all saddend by your loss. Please come back english wiki is missing you even just to say your good-byes to users. --Aranda56 23:04, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
I just now left the en wiki permanely after I was involved in severe conflect over there. I now agree with u why u left the en wiki. People just cant work with other users over there without someone there calling u a vandal, insuting etc. I even left the RickK message in my user page. See Ya as im quitting all wiki projects. --JAranda | watz sup 03:54, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
I was lerking around in here as Im still avoiding the en wiki for good and I saw this User:Ryan Norton on Wheels! and that fag moved your page to on wheels!. I reverted it. --JAranda | watz sup 21:18, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
I need a favor. I want to request permission for a school wikipedia to avoid stuff like this Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Odle Middle School. I talked about it in the Wikipedia:Schools talk page and Im getting mixed results but I still want to attempt to form it. Do u know where to ask. Thanks --JAranda | watz sup 04:05, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
- Hello Ryan, Im Moe Epsilon. I am from the en Wikipedia. I and Esperanza were wondering if you could please come back. We need you. You are one the members of the commitee that runs Esperanza so I was shocked when it was reported that you left. Please come back Ryan. — Moe ε 02:14, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
Ok, we can set up a draw each time, in order to decide who is to delete a page :-) Ciao, M/ 16:49, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
because I'm an idiot... <sigh>Edit
Sorry about that. Moving it. - 01:48, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
- <grin> It's just been a rather long day on RC patrol; I should have noticed this at least *once* today... Thanks! - Amgine 01:54, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
(86.132.***.* 18:22, 1 January 2006 (UTC)) Hi can you tell me why you deleted Matt Groves amoungst others--Jamie Brown etc. The copyright notice came up and then i replied in the talk section of many of them that i had taken the information from my own personal site. Thanks very much Dev -dtfcdev
Hello there. I admit, that after my first experience on here, I lost faith in Wiki's system since I was banned for "vandalizing" after making a legitimate edit. That being said, I saw the note you put on my most recent "vandalism". Thank you for having the sense to at least bother to look and see that my initial "vandalism" was disputed.
Added 1.14.06 On the other hand, there's this type of nonsense: Blanking your warnings is considered vandalism. Please don't do it again. Thanks, VegaDark 10:01, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
Here is another example: cur) (last) 05:29, 15 January 2006 DanielCD m (Reverted edits by 18.104.22.168 (talk) to last version by 22.214.171.124) (cur) (last) 05:29, 15 January 2006 126.96.36.199 (→Other trolling phenomena - Corrected spelling of "LIBERALS" from "LIBSERALS" in last heading but I'll bet one of the imbecile "editors" will ban me for that)
My change was legitimate, but these idiots that call themselves "editors" who really are nothing more than wanna' be cyber cops actually reverted my legitimate change without even looking at it based on nothing more than the fact that I was previously (and unjustly) banned.
THAT is why this site will always be a joke.
You sir, are the lone good apple on a rotten tree.
Re: your messagesEdit
May I ask why? As far as I can tell, there's no problem with what I'm doing. Linuxbeak 00:58, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- I certainly understand where you're coming from. My only issue is this: Meta itself is broken. Many people won't touch it because it's so horribly unorganized. Images which have been listed on RFD for over a year need to go. Plus, images which don't link anywhere aren't going to be missed, either (well, maybe the pornography for some people ;-)) Anyway, I can't stop doing administrative activities right now just when the MetaProject is getting underway. If I stop now, it'll be another year or more before people decide to fix Meta.. Linuxbeak 01:49, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
As for the deleted essays, most of them should stay and be archived properly. There's no reason to delete an old essay on meta -- indeed, that was one of the reasons meta was founded. We can decide to change its policies now, but that should at most involve creating an archival space for historical content... Sj 09:48, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
Your message :)Edit
Thank you a lot for your message, I really appreciate it. Clearly, though, people are unhappy with the cleanup for various different reasons. Unhappiness begets conflict, which means that something I found enjoyable when I started doing it has now become something that's actually sickening. I'd rather quit while I'm somewhat ahead :-) I did have fun, however, so thank you again for your message! Jude(talk, contribs) 14:35, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
Hi RN, this is a short Zazaish fairy-tale, that I wrote in Zazaki Test-wp. But it's already deleted. I mean texts like this belong to the culture.
The translation of mentioned text is as follows: mirzali,19:35, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
Keke be Kerzıki ra = The flea and the tick
The flea and the tick go to play on ice.
The flea slips and falls down and breaks its foot.
The flea says: “Oh ice! What are you for a ice, that I broke my foot on you?”
The ice says: “If I weren’t ice, the sun didn’t shine to me.”
The flea says: “Oh sun! What are you for a sun, that you shine to the ice?”
The sun says: “If I weren’t sun, I couldn’t shine to the mountains’ summit.”
The flea says: “Oh mountains! What are you for mountains, that the sun shines to your summit?”
The mountains say: “If we weren’t mountains, the sheep and goats didn’t graze on us.”
The flea says: “Oh sheep and goats! What are you for sheep and goats, that you graze on mountains?”
The sheep and goats say: “If we weren’t sheep and goats, the wolf wouldn’t pursue us.”
The flea says: “Oh wolf! What are you for a wolf, that you pursue the sheep and goats?”
The wolf says: “If I weren’t a wolf, the dog wouldn’t run after me.”
The flea says: “Oh dog! What are you for a dog, that you run after the wolf?”
The dog says: “If I weren’t a dog, it wouldn’t be given me food on the old earth?”
The flea says: “Oh old earth! What are you for a old earth, that it would be given food to the dog on you?”
The old earth says: “If I weren’t a old earth, the mouse didn’t make holes into me?”
The flea says: “Oh mouse! What are you for a mouse, that you make holes into the old earth?”
The mouse says: “If I weren’t a mouse, the cat wouldn’t chase me?”
The flea says: “Oh cat! What are you for a cat, that you chase the mouse?”
But in this moment the cat jumps out of the window…
I think I screwed up in multilingualismEdit
I've added categories for what I took to be country codes, adding CO for Colombia, CA for Canada and BE for Belgium, but I think that was a misreading of how it works. The only other categories like this that already exist are for languages rather than countries. So Category:CO, which I created to contain documentation relevant to Colombia, doesn't really make that much sense, and I should have filed the Wikimedia Columbia category under ES (the predominant language of the documentation.
Your Wikipedia Review comment on enEdit
I had never heard of you before, so I thought it was of note to let you know that this had led to censorship on meta in the form of the spam black list by Raul654.
However, this was eventually undone by Eloquence. See: http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Spam_blacklist&diff=328445&oldid=326642
The thing is that the forum was quite honestly set up to talk about Wikipedia. The history of the forum is that it was set up by Igor Alexander, who was an ex-Wikipedia editor. Various people tried to bash the forum, most prominently Wikipedia admins Ambi, Tony Sidaway and Thebainer, and they tried to come up with various excuses for bashing it. Outside of the forum, Slim Virgin and Raul654 were very angry with it because it criticised them, and pointed out their various faults - especially Slim Virgin with relation to her abuse of List of British Jews and other issues. The thing was that we were accusing Slim Virgin of probably being anti-semetic, of being an islamic terrorist. However, some people thought that perhaps she was just misguided the other way. Regardless, there was unanimity in deciding that Slim Virgin was without question hurting the Jewish community, whether she intended to or not.
That perhaps gives you a clue for what happened next. See, we were in the business of predicting bans, and Ambi had threatened to ban Grace Note as the next notable critic to be banned. So we told Grace Note of this. Ambi was referring to Grace Note as a viscious troll who should be permabanned. Then Grace Note saw how Wikipedia admins were automatically banning people who posted on Wikipedia Review, based on Ambi's lead, and hence Grace Note turned on everyone who had supported him. Then Grace Note found an excuse for this, which was to side with Slim Virgin - someone who hated him but he was trying to get back in the good books with. So Grace Note agreed with Slim Virgin to label the forum as anti-semetic, thus making all claims against Slim Virgin redundant.
Whether Igor Alexander really is anti-semetic is speculative. You can go around and say that there is this link and that link, but then you can argue just as easily that it's all tongue in cheek. Even if he was, prior to Grace Note's "exposure", Igor Alexander certainly wasn't using Wikipedia Review to post nazi propaganda. And after that, sure he did, but there is a good chance that it was just to prove a point, and to scare them off.
Of course, there was one user who was anti-semetic, who referred to Jayjg as "Jewjg". I can't recall his name offhand, but yes he did get in to a bit of it.
The thing is that the "new board" wasn't meant to be separate. We were meant to just transfer from one to the other, just so that we had a paid version of it. However, a day before the planned move, Igor Alexander came back out of hiding to censor the free board, ban Selina and 10 other valid critics, and then later on he went further and deleted the vast majority of posts there.
As a result, Selina is without question opposed to the old board, as are of course all of the prominent users who were banned from it (Ownage, God of War and others). And of course the current situation with the old board is rather pointless.
But call it a nazi propaganda machine and you are blatantly false. It was labelled as such by Grace Note in order for Grace Note to avoid the permaban that Ambi had promised to give him. And in retrospect Grace Note probably deserved it. Slim Virgin of course added to this so that we could ignore all of the racist and anti-semetic posts that Slim Virgin makes.
There is no doubt that there is trolling on that forum, primarily by Wikipedia administrators or other "fan boys" as we term them. Malber and Grace Note were of course the worst, but there was also Ambi, Tony Sidaway, and a number of others. Golbez and Thebainer do occasionally do it as well.
In spite of the "victory" for pro-Wikipedia supporters, in destroying legitimate criticism by labelling it as neo-nazi and turning a valid critic in Grace Note in to an enemy, the board remains very much legitimate.
You can come along and post on there. I see that you are interested in autism. You might be interested to know about Malber's views on autism, and why he came to criticise the forum - because he thinks that autistics shouldn't be allowed to edit Wikipedia, and he demonstrated severe discrimination against autistics which led to his visiting there.
Anyway, just being a bit open there for a moment. I thought you might be interested. 188.8.131.52 16:04, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Response to your commentEdit
Nice to see you around again! There are more noticeboards on Meta these days, for one thing... and more discussion happens via blogs and the Planet rather than as essays here. There is less active updating of Goings-on and news, but the same level of translation bustle as when you were last here.
I think the most significant change recently is segmentation: a lot of high-level concept drafting was done on other wikis, like the strategywiki, (which may later be merged back here) and the outreach wiki; small language tests have moved to the Incubator, and mediawiki pages have been entirely moved to mediawiki.org .
- Yes, we need many more content creators. The excess of adminwork there is not healthy - flame wars are much healthier, in that they in the end generate good content (and keep controversial content from slipping in unnoticed). Ditto for meta content! Luckily essays of all sorts are still welcome here; this remains my favorite wiki as well :-) –SJ · talk | translate 00:37, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
