removespam.js

As we talked on IRC, I'd like to tell you that your removespam.js script has stopped to work. I don't know what happened cause the script were working fine 2/3 weeks ago. Here is my monobook.js page at es.wikipedia if you need check something [1]. Best regards and merry Xmas. Dferg (T-ES) 21:10, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Note: It stopped to work only on es-wiki. It is working fine on the others wikis. Dferg (T-ES) 21:12, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
But... what does it do/not do? Does it hang (infinite loop)? Does it return an error? Does it remove the link incorrectly? etc  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 06:56, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
After clicking on the article that I want to clean up spam (before going to Special:Linksearch, entering the link, click on remove...) , the script does nothing. No changes are maid to the article. Thank you. Dferg (T-ES) 15:06, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Where are you clicking on the article? Are you referring to the "rem" links on Erwin's tool?
Can you check a bunch of domains, and try removing links from several different articles (say, es:Special:LinkSearch/*.wikipedia.org, es:Special:LinkSearch/*.wikibooks.org and es:Special:LinkSearch/*.youtube.com?) and verify that they all fail in the same way? Or perhaps it is only on certain articles that this occurs? It may be a normal failure.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 15:13, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

New vandalbots

Tracked today editing the MediaWiki Talk pages across wikis. I've added them to the SWMTBot's BlackList. Dferg (T-ES) 19:14, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

I added them here Dferg (T-ES) 20:37, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. Not really around for the next week or so to help, but noted.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 20:50, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Is it the same one as before? XRumer?  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 20:52, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
I've checked the IP's and they were used by the field_other vandal Dferg (T-ES) 20:57, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

puratimba.com

Hi, I don't think you actually added puratimba.com to the blacklist, which explains the on-going link additions. --Erwin(85) 21:43, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Epic fail :(  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 21:55, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Apology

Sorry for the recent "personal attack" on lt.wiktionary. I was a bit annoyed about the necessity to restore all these useful links. However, this is resolved on lt.wikt. Your anti-vandal bot is much faster than me!! --Agricoleur 19:48, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, now someone else has reverted these actions. This is a pity. ;(--Agricoleur 19:49, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
FYI, I'm neither a bot nor a steward. In addition, I don't think you've stopped the nonsense that got you blocked in the first place. I would appreciate it if you would contribute constructively. Otherwise, your request will be unsuccessful, I think. Please take a few moments to consider your current position and your next actions.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 20:04, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Oops, pity about this edit - I gotta work on this profanity of mine! I should probably take a break from this site anyway. --Agricoleur 20:58, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
This is not the only example. I do not think you have changed your ways. However, the request for unblocking is happening at SRG, not here. I was not insulted since your actions reflect on you not me - you can consider this an "apology accepted"  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 21:16, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Anthony Braxton

Question: you removed the link from exb.it from the Anthony Barxton article. According to the homepage, exb.it "a cultural Association for promotion and diffusion of avant-jazz and improvised music." I do not see any problem with that. Regards, Linksfuss 20:35, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

There was excessive cross-wiki linking by several IPs, as shown in User:COIBot/XWiki/exb.it. If there is consensus to add it to the article, feel free to re-add it.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 21:08, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
The webpage offers biographical data from a lot of jazz musicians. It looks like the IP added those links to a lot of jazz musician articles. I do not see a problem with that, so I will re-add the link. Regards, 91.42.81.52 21:38, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
The issue is excessive cross-wiki linking, which is not welcome since WMF wikis are not for promoting links. If there is consensus that the link genuinely improves the article, then re-add it.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 21:42, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Pat on the back

Thanks for subpaging the confirmation stewards. Majorly talk 22:10, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

lol, thanks man.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 00:19, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for deleting my page and its discussion. Could you also protect them both so that vandals cannot recreate them? SA ru 03:30, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Are you sure? That would mean you cannot create the pages either, and legitimate users won't be able to leave you messages here. Perhaps you should create your talk page and/or user page with a pointer to where you can be contacted?  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 03:32, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
I am absolutely sure; have to escape from vandals. SA ru 22:57, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Individual preferences?

Please see Talk:Wikibooks/Logo#Individual_preferences?; there is something unclear with your decision, I think. --- Best regards, Melancholie 19:57, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

My mistake entirely. Apologies & thanks for catching it.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 20:13, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
No problem, things like that just happen. I was just wondering where to look for that "individual preferences" ;-) --- Nice regards, Melancholie 20:16, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
I had removed B entirely in the document I was working with by accident, so I had pitted A against 0. Ridiculous mistake to make.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 20:19, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
There's no damage ;-) But we will have to update bugzilla:17034 (e.g. File:Wikibooks-logo.svg). Maybe we should mark bugzilla:17034 invalid and file a new 'clean' request? --- Best regards, Melancholie 20:23, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
No need - two of the logos are already updated. I just need Ramac to change the text. That request isn't getting done today (& in fact if it did, there'd still be no issue). I'll take care of it (though if you know how to change the text in the SVG, that'd be great)  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 20:26, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Normally you can edit SVGs with an text editor, but this logo was made with Inkscape. It's best to let it change by the original author, I think. Do you intend to make the English logo a fallback logo for all Wikibooks, like it had been with the old logo? Or shall the textless File:Wikibooks-logo.svg be the fallback logo? --- Greetings, Melancholie 20:34, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
P.s.: Note that the fallback logo will be located at http://en.wikibooks.org/images/wiki-textbook.png e.g. --- Regards, Melancholie 20:37, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, but I suck at inkscape! I've asked them to set the textless logo as the fallback. Still trying to find Ramac. He may not be online...  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 20:46, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Re:Stewards/elections 2009

You're welcome! Only help me whit one thing: What is a probationary? (I never heard that term)

Thanks, Béria Lima Msg 23:41, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

It means "temporary"... like a trainee when they first get hired. They have a probationary period where the employer sees if they want to keep the employee & if not, they can be fired.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 23:45, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi, can you add "wikimedia/erwin" as trusted host to BLWatcher? The old one "wikimedia/Erwin85" can be removed. Thanks. --Erwin(85) 15:03, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
