Different log entries but for the same project, in fact.

Hello Mike, I was thinking in opening a bug because of this and this. Perhaps you know something I have not seen yet but, IMHO, having 2 different log entries for meta is confusing (& nosense, perhaps?). What do you think. Thank you, df|  08:48, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it is rather confusing - I didn't realize there were two for quite a while; I've recently been trying to put rights changes in the "local" one (without @metawiki). I'd welcome that being fixed - please CC me on the bug when you make it.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 15:18, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
Hello Mike, thanks for your reply. If it does not matter, I would prefer a more experienced user & with an elevated level of english like you to fill the bug if appropiated. You are a steward and you all are the "affected" on this issue, I think that it will not be appropiated for me to request that change (& perhaps you may want to discuss this on stewards-l before taking any action...). Thank you and sorry, df|  19:04, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

calculate-linux.org

Hello Mike. I am the project developer, calculate-linux, it does not commercial projects. You can add a page www.calculate-linux.org to the white list? If you can not add a page, explain how to do this? Link to discussion [[1]] I apologize for the language I use an online translator.

No, I am not an administrator for that wiki.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 13:12, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

pages not noteworthy

Hello Mike, Every now and then I stumble upon deleted Wiki pages and when I try to figure out why the page was removed the sole reason given is something like 'not noteworthy'. In most cases I disagree. To begin with, there's a reason for someone to create the page. Second, there is a reason for me (and probably many others) to want to read that page. When I read the comments from the people arguing about the question weather to delete a page or not, I get the feeling that the arguments used are noet very strong. Is there a page that gives a good explaination on this topic en states guidelines about it? SimonDeDanser 20:05, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Please see WM:DP  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 19:08, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Hello

You recently deleted my userpage on the scottish wiki. This doesn't really matter to me(link to userpage), but I would like to see what the vandal said, so if you could please email the contents to me? Thank you for your time.Daedalus969 04:37, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Please

May I ask you to review this request for unblock? - I'm the blocking admin. I'm not convinced that this IP is no longer a proxy since RonaldB and other information shows that this IP is, nowadays, a proxy. Thank you & regards, df|  11:25, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Looks to be an open proxy on port 80 which belongs to hostnoc.net.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 13:07, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
Yes, seems so. I'm letting others to accept/decline his request. Gracias, df|  19:34, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

port-arthur.ucoz.ru

Please remove link from spam-list (blacklist) to my personal site about russian japan war 1904-05 www.port-arthur.ucoz.ru. This is not a spam! Why you don't see the site before you take that to spam-list???? I hope Mike that you chek my site and delete a link to my site from spam list. Thank's

Hello, it seems to me you are promoting the site, and indeed you own it. That is not what our wikis are for, and I don't think the site should be removed at this time. If you have further questions, please ask in the removal section of WM:SPAM.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 12:32, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

May I continue to do the Hakka Sysop?

After 21 days,may I permanent do the Hakka Sysop?--林躍錩 14:25, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Not permanent, but you can ask for an extension. Please post an announcement on hakwiki that you will be asking so others may object if they want to. Then, on the expiry day, ask on SRP for more time. Hope that helps.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 17:52, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Pywikipedia

Hello,I report a bug that I can't connect to ftps://login.toolserver.org but excuse me because I live in Iran and goverment of Iran blocked all ports because fear that Iranian people meet together in Y!Messenger !!!!Amir 19:12, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

What are you trying to do? I would suggest emailing toolserver-l instead of asking me, they will more likely know how to help.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 19:23, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
You cannot use FTPS to transfer files, please use SFTP.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 19:31, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry all of this problems for w:Qouds day and after tomorrow or dat after tomorrow may be opened, mardetanha have this problem too--I know and use Winscp(for file transfer) or PuTTY(for run of bot and sql)Amir 19:35, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Rights to Sourceybot

Gday Mike, Wondering whether you would be so kind to grant me with privileged user rights for Sourceybot at #wikisource. sDrewth and nick. Thx for your consideration. -- billinghurst 09:17, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

I did a bunch of cloaks earlier. Not sure if I added you, but if not, there are plenty of folks you can ask in #wikisource.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 18:08, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

DeSpamWatcher

Hi Mike!
Could you please eleminate DeSpamWatcher from #cvn-wp-de? vdetector observes some sbl-related stuff, already, so I tought him to watch the SBL and it's talklist, too. Now, there's no need to have DeSpamWatcher as an additional bot. Thanks anyway, DeSpamWatcher did a good job! -- seth 12:37, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Sounds good to me - one fewer bot to care for :D  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 18:07, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Unblocking the Kosher

Please explain. It is not clear why this previous situation shgould apply here. Thanks, GerardM

I did explain on his talk page. Is there something in particular that needs clarification?  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 14:59, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
As an explanation it is completely unclear. Why is it relevant that Rand Montoya had to do something in the past ? Thanks, GerardM 21:44, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
Where did I mention Rand?  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 21:51, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

IP « 82.109.84.114 »

Feundliche Grüe Barras 09:50, 26 September 2009 (UTC) PS:If you want/need a translation, so just ask me on my talk page, Mike :)
Da keine Wikipediarichtlinienverstoss vorliegt, was soll das dann? Kenne 2 solcher Standorte. 82.109.84.114 11:33, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

There was a spambot on that IP. It is entirely possible that the computer is compromised. I've unblocked the IP and we will monitor it.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 14:49, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Bod skad and Dzonkha

Thanks for removing the code. I had placed the code a long time ago as an option to aid input. Unfortunately, my adminship in Dzonkha and Bod Skad ended before I could change the code to a more standard one. For the standardization of script, I tried contacting Tibetan linguists online but did not get any response. Besides, the complete absence of a community in both Tibetan and Dzonkha wiki did not help either (in other instances such as in Nepali, Panjabi, Marathi, Hindi, Assamese, Kashmiri wikipedia, responses from the community helped to modify the input system to make it more precise). Also, the remaining Indic wikipediae adapted the script by themselves. Btw, I had already responded to CFynn here about the fact that I do not have sysop access and cannot remove or modify the script without having admin access and even requested for admin status here but there was no response from anyone. All the same, the problem is resolved now. Thank you for that. --Eukesh 05:38, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for trying, but unfortunately the removal doesn't seem to have worked. There is still the check-box and message: "Test - check box to write in Dzonkha [sic] (test phase); use Esc to switch" at the top when I edit pages in the Dzongkha Wikipedia. The template is still very much active and has to turned off with each edit! Same thing on the Tibetan Wikipedia. I appreciate that Eukesh who wrote the script applied for sysop privileges in order to remove it, but received no response. Anyway I'm still looking for a way to get this fixed.

Please make sure you have purged your browser's cache (info) & let me know if it really isn't disabled. I'll try to take a look to double-check shortly.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 15:27, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
BTW, if you are available, I would be happy to give you temp sysop access to disable the script.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 15:36, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
