edit@Jon Harald Søby in cases like c:Special:Diff/550215418, diffedit should probably not load/attempt to edit if it can't. ~~~~

- @1234qwer1234qwer4: Indeed, I hadn't thought about slot handling. I think I have a fix for that, will keep you updated. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 21:37, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks, and thanks for maintaining this great tool! ~~~~
User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 21:38, 22 October 2021 (UTC)- @1234qwer1234qwer4: Thanks! :-) Should be fixed now. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 21:57, 22 October 2021 (UTC)

- Thank you 1234qwer1234qwer4, as well as to Schazjmd and the jury and everyone. This is really inspiring, it's an honour! Jon Harald Søby (talk) 22:52, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
Preview?
editIgnore this if it isn't technically feasible, but...I love this tool, it saves me so much time when cleaning up a new editor's efforts and makes it practical to save their good edits without reverting the whole thing. The only thing I miss is being able to preview before committing my edit. With more complex diff edits, it isn't always easy to tell from the wikitext view if my change breaks something. Schazjmd (talk) 18:40, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- IMHO this tool should not be used for really complex diffs. ~~~~

Your tool docs are featured as an example in the new Tool Docs Guide!
editHello diffedit maintainers, contributors, and fans! I wanted to let you know that I highlighted the diffedit documentation as a shining example in the new Tool Docs guide that I just published. Thank you for creating lovely tool documentation that can serve as an example to help others create and improve tool docs :-) TBurmeister (WMF) (talk) 16:46, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
- @TBurmeister (WMF): I didn't notice this until now, sorry. Thanks, that's really cool! Jon Harald Søby (talk) 16:13, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
Dark mode
editHello. The CSS ues the background-color rule, which makes it hard to read the lines in dark mode. I suggest using somethink like diff-context is using: background: var(--background-color-neutral-subtle,#fff);

- @Strainu: Thanks, I added this just now. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 16:09, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
Bug
edit@Jon Harald Søby: Whenever I use diffedit, some content of the edited page gets deleted by itself. This renders the tool unusable. Examples:
- w:ro:Special:Diff/16490798 – All I wanted was to delete an extra blank space.
- w:ro:Special:Diff/16481960 – All I wanted was to add two "citation needed" templates and remove one external link.
- w:ro:Special:Diff/16376390 – Minor changes turned into large paragraph removal.
- w:ro:Special:Diff/16311049 – Among others, the lead section has been largely deleted.

- @Paloi Sciurala: Thanks for the report! That's really weird. I just tried to replicate one of the edits here, but it worked as expected for me. Can I ask which browser (and version of it) you are using? Jon Harald Søby (talk) 16:03, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- Brave Browser, version 1.70.119 Chromium: 129.0.6668.70 (official version) (64 bit).
- But I do not think that the browser is at fault. After having blanked my global.js (keeping only diffedit), I have managed to make this edit via diffedit. I have concluded that most likely one of my user scripts is interfering with diffedit. I am yet to find this user script, but I will let you know if I will find it. --Paloi Sciurala (talk|contribs) 16:59, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- I have managed to make these edits without breaking anything, so I think that the problem is solved (I am not sure how, though). --Paloi Sciurala (talk|contribs) 14:52, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
