I'd like to request bureaucratship permissions so as to be able to grant these permissions to others who request. As I do with the various wikipedia lang projects I'm also busy with. Jay B. User:ILVI -- en, es, gl, ia, la, pt, vo

Which Wiktionary are you applying for permission on? En already has a bureaucrat, so we can't deal with that and you don't have an account on vo, pt, la, gl or es. Angela 21:19, 30 May 2004 (UTC)
I started the gl, vo, ia, sw and other wikipedia efforts and made the Main Page for the la wikipedia, I've contributed to the es, pt from long ago, I started with them when they were still using UseMod wikis and the .com domains. I've contributed to the en wiki and all of this using the same username ILVI... I'm not quite sure what you mean about not having an account there, since I am an admin in vo and ia etc, so what I'm asking is that this could be the case in the wiktionaries as well. Please allow that I be granted permission for bureacratship in the wiktionaries I'm requesting above, if 'en' already has its fill then the others surely don't. When I made the page-articles for administrator-ship above, there didn't seem to be any bureaucrats mentioned anywhere. And so I'm asking. If there is another place where we could confirm that there is actually someone doing this job then all for the better, where may that be? And if not what should be my next step in this regard. I'd appreciate your help in this. With regards User:ILVI Jay B. ILVI ILVI 02:36, 5 Jun 2004 (UTC)
I think there's been a misunderstanding. I wasn't questioning your contributions to Wikipedia. I just mean that you don't have accounts on those Wiktionaries. See la:Specialis:Listusers for example. There is no user:ILVI. You can't be made an admin if you don't even exist there. I'm also not saying you can't be a bureaucrat on en, just that stewards can not make you one. You will need to go through the procedures that the English Wiktionary has set up as only Eclecticology can make you one there. Angela 05:32, 8 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I've moved this from the Wiktionary requests page as that page is about to be redirected. Please remake this request once you have an account on the relevant Wiktionaries. It is not possible for a steward to give adminship to a non-existant account. Thanks. Angela 17:24, 15 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Andalusian WPEdit

Well, it's an unestablished orthography and thus original research.

no websites on the internet use it for writing the language. There are lots of websites about the Andalusian language, but none of them use your crazy "fonetik" orthography.

It's ridiculous to try to make Andalusian look more distinct than it really is through orthography. The request should be judged on its merits -- how close is Andalusian to Castillian, and NOT "how different can Jay Bowks make Andalusian look?" --Node ue 23:03, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

  • Well, yeah! Ok. But... What makes Andalusian different is the way it is spoken. Castilian spelling doesn't showcase at all the actual speech of Andalusia, far from it. The "S/Z" issue for example, it's definitely a difficult one. In most Andalusian communities the "ceceo" is seen as an effort to be overly proper, as Castilian pronunciation goes. The use of "z" as "s" and "th" is a simple one, where as using "s" for both would mean exclusion of Cadiz pronunciation, which usually is "th" for every instance, kinda "lithpy" but true. The use of B/V is also a simple one... hard "B" for initial "b" sound and "v" for "bilabial, ie. soft b". The use of "k" is simple too, it avoids confusion with "ce" and "ci" being soft, i.e. "s". So how different can I make Andalusian look? Well the ideas I'm implementing are already used by several other folks to some degree, some use "q" instead of "k" everywhere, and some use "b" everywhere and for both soft and hard "b" sounds, so I think my solution to the spelling is phonetic and quite reasonable. Will it go beyond a Test-wp??? I dunno, but I do know this, Andalusian Spanish is different enough from Castilian to be separate. ILVI 04:29, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Dear ILVI, since you are an administrator on a wiki from which no user participated in this discussion, I'd like to make sure you are aware of some recent events which may alter what the Wikimedia Foundation lets you do on your wiki: Superprotect.
