Sara Yap was a Catalyst Project Associate for the Global Development Team at Wikimedia.
Sara worked on projects relating to Brazil, the Middle East and North Africa regions. Her focus included grant-writing support, geographic-specific research for the Global Education Program, Wikipedia convenings, planning outreach and Wikipedia editing movements with the Arabic and Portuguese communities. She has worked at Ashoka, Google, Acumen Fund and most recently at Mozilla on the Foundation and Firefox Mobile team. She's most passionate about technology, international development, and teaming with others to open access to knowledge. As a Hawaii native, she has worked and lived in Morocco, Italy, Egypt, Yemen, Syria and Pakistan. Sara attended Columbia (M.A.) and Brown University (B.A.).
