Values

Culture

edit
Start as you mean to continue
Honesty, conscience, and duty to a purpose can be as important to lasting success as reaching particular targets.

The culture with which something is attempted may last longer than the results of the initial generation. Similarly,

Be curious
Exploration, and tackling opportunity as it arises, need active support and encouragement to thrive. Enthusiasm and wrestling with the unexpected leads to discoveries, of beauty and flow and practice, that can far surpass what was expected or intentionally sought.
Focus on future potential
Do not overweight past results or circumstances, in people, ideas, and implementations.
Independence
Recognize where support or partnership would lead to natural conflicts in decision-making. Offset that with counterweighting obligations, independent governance, and regular reinitialization from first principles.

Modeling possibilities

edit
Accessibility > availability
There are many layers of accessibility. Context, interpretability, usability, and interoperability can be more important than availability.
Model opposition as well
Have specific models of barriers to be overcome, to change a current equilibrium, or to reach intended audiences. Recognize for instance where Nomic and other feedback systems dominate; and where reaching everyone in the same way privileges the most active reuse by groups that will reflexively restrict others.
Be systemic
Attend to equilibria and structures as well as tactics and targeted solutions to local challenges. Balance time spent attending to each. Include maintenance, sustenance, and peering in modeling stable systems.
