One day, a wise man listened impassively as his critics berated and insulted him during a discussion. After the end of the discussion, an observer asked him how it made him feel to be treated so. The elder smiled for a moment, then said "It makes me very happy." A student, who had been upset already, demanded "How can it make you happy to be treated so!?!?" His teacher explained, still smiling, "Because, my impetuous young friend, I am not them." |
