Samuel Ajala is a data and development journalist covering Nigeria's climate change, energy transition and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). He previously worked with Nigeria's leading data journalism organisation, Dataphyte.

Samuel works with Clean Technology Hub as a Research Associate and Lead Circular Economy Portfolio in the Environment and Climate Action department.

Samuel is as a freelance contributor to the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung European Union; EnergyTransition platform to provide fresh content by spotlighting critical components of the varied energy transitions plan of the Nigerian government.

In March 2022, he was selected as the only Nigerian in-person media fellow to attend the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD). During the fellowship, he wrote three articles for Dataphyte, especially on the importance of energy transition and commitment to 30% renewable energy for Nigeria by 2030 and latest technological developments in clean energy and the best policymaking practices.

In addition, to promote transparency and accountability in delivering constituency projects in Nigeria, Samuel has tracked over 50 governmental projects in health care, climate change and energy transition through the Udeme platform of Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) and Dataphyte.

In 2020, for his contribution to civic engagement and service to the public through non-governmental organisations, community-based organisations, and volunteerism, he became a fellow with the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Regional Leadership Conference, where he is now an Alumni.

Samuel was recently selected as a fellow for Future News Worldwide(FNW) 2022 Digital Conference, organized by British Council which brings to gether the best 100 young journalists from all over the world.
