Repetition of search terms is a common tactic

http://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html

Use a text browser such as Lynx to examine your site, because most search engine spiders see your site much as Lynx would. If fancy features such as JavaScript, cookies, session IDs, frames, DHTML, or Flash keep you from seeing all of your site in a text browser, then search engine spiders may have trouble crawling your site.

Here's a tool to see how popular a keyword is in the search engines

  • Make use of the robots.txt file on your web server. This file tells crawlers which directories can or cannot be crawled. Make sure it's current for your site so that you don't accidentally block the Googlebot crawler. Visit http://www.robotstxt.org/wc/faq.html to learn how to instruct robots when they visit your site.

FOR MULTIPLE FILES AT A TIME:

Kill Hyperlink/spam on my wikisiteEdit

nofollow is a possible value of the attribute rel in the <A> markup of HTML. Many search engines, such as Google, rank pages based on the number of other websites that link to them, but ignore links that contain rel="nofollow". This one attribute determines whether Wikipedia has any influence on the search engine ranking of any page linked to by Wikipedia.

Dot leadersEdit

How to Align Dot Leaders (.....) in Microsoft Word 2000

1. Select/highlight all titles/headings and page numbers in Table of Contents, List of Figures, or List of Tables.

2. Go to 'Format' and select 'Tabs.'

3. Set a 'Tab Stop Position.' The number you select will be added to your left/inside margin number. Ignore 'Default Tab Stops.' (Ex. A 5.5 inch tab stop will place your page numbers 1 inch from the right/outside margin because a 5.5 inch tab stop plus the 1.5 inch left/inside margin is 7 inches.)

4. Under 'Alignment' select 'Right.'

5. Under 'Leader' select '2…..'

6. Click the 'Set' button, then the 'OK' button.

7. Highlight and delete the dot leaders (….) between your first title/heading and page number.

8. Leave the cursor between the last letter of the title/heading and the first page number, then hit the tab key.

9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for all titles/headings in Table of Contents, List of Figures, or List of Tables.
