Mahatma Gandhi 2020 edit-a-thon is a mini edit-a-thon which was conducted on 2-3 October 2020 to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary. It was a first edit-a-thon under the series of "Mini edit-a-thons". In this event, only that content created or expanded which was related to Mahatma Gandhi, directly or indirectly. It was not restricted to specific Wiki-project, although, editors could select their own project and created or developed the content. On the event page total of 61 users signed up but only 45 editors participated and they created or increased the content in their regional languages. On Wikipedia, around 150 articles have been created, during the event. Some pages were proofread on Wikisource. Also, some files uploaded and edit for structure data on Wikimedia Commons. Few participants gave feedback on it and one of the participants stated;

"Our small Gujarati Wiki group was very excited about the event. In Gujarati, the mother tongue of Mahatma Gandhi, not a lot of information is available on the Wikipedia platforms. I am proud to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation through such an edit-a-thon." User:Vijay Barot

Festive Season 2020 edit-a-thon is a second mini edit-a-thon under the series of "Mini edit-a-thons". It was organised on 5-6 December 2020 to celebrate Indian festivals. During this event, participants created or improved content related to festivals. The content was related to Indian festivals but not restricted to particular Wiki-project, just like Mahatma Gandhi 2020 edit-a-thon. For this event, 98 people signed up and out of 98, 76 editors participated. Volunteers responded for it very well. This time, most contents were created on Wikipedia as well as Wikimedia Commons. On Wikipedia, around 230 articles were created and a few articles expanded by editors. Also on Commons, 200 above files (pictures) were uploaded and through Lingualibre 442 words were uploaded on Commons as well. For this time, Wikiquote also edited by an editor. The editors responded enthusiastically for the event. Quote by a volunteer

Translation from User: Festive season 2020 edit-a-thon was organized on 5th and 6th December 2020 in an effort to increase the content related to Indian festivals in Wikimedia projects. I also joined the edit-a-thon with my fellow Assamese Wikimedians. As a result a total of 59 new articles were created in Assamese. Such events encourage both the active and new contributors. Many thanks and good wishes to the organizers for this wonderful event. Hopefully in the future they regularly host such events.

Series of interviews edit

There are a few numbers of female wikimedians in India. CIS-A2K decided to interview Indian female Wikimedians who are working with their own ideas or in any form. This idea is focused to introduce female wikimedians to Indian or outside Indian Wikimedians. "Series of Interviews" has been started from a month ago. It began from Wiki Women for Women Wellbeing (WWWW) and for this idea, we interviewed Dr Manavpreet Kaur. She talked about WWWW and how much female leaders took part in it. Next interviews will be those who manage any kind of leadership in any project or community.

Research: A Comparative Study of Article Creation Campaigns/Contests in India edit

This research project is a comparative study of two prominent article creation campaigns/contests in India, Wikipedia Asian Month (2015 to 2019) and Project Tiger 1.0. The primary research objective is to understand the motivations behind the participation by editors in these type of edit-a-thons for their regional languages, prevailing challenges and knowledge gaps in content creation and participation, and ways to address these. Data for this project was collected primarily through interviews with organisers, participants and other community members engaged with these two projects. A draft report on key observations and findings has been completed and will be shared for review shortly with the internal team and the respondents. The final report is expected to be published early next year.
