Marty Hernandez Avedon (he/they), Technical Writer and Contributor at Mediawiki

At Wikipedia Day 2019, in Manhattan (front, far left).

I'm a technical writer and software developer from New York City. My most recent project with WMF involved improving documentation for the deployment pipeline. I also occasionally volunteer on the English Wikipedia, doing copy edits. I am no longer interning or contracting with the Foundation.

From late 2018 to early 2019, I interned at Wikimedia within the Outreachy program. In 2018, I apprenticed at Microsoft, on Azure team. Prior to coding, I used to write short web articles and do print design for local businesses and nonprofits.

This project began in late April, 2019, and I worked on it through the spring of that year. More details on Wikitech

My internship with WMF ran from December 2018 until March 2019, with a trial period in October 2018. It was sponsored by Outreachy, a project of the Software Freedom Conservancy.
