Project Plan
editActivities
editTell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. What content will the contest focus on, and why is it important to your community?
- The contest will be focused on articles about the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War and its historical context (Euromaidan, Annexation of Crimea, War in Donbas, etc.) as well as on articles about the state of human rights and politics in Russia (Human rights in Russia, Russian opposition to Vladimir Putin, assassination of Boris Nemtsov, etc.) with the goal of providing creating high-quality, objective and up-to-date information about these important topics to Wikipedia readers.
2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.
3. How will you let participants know about the contest? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
- Our on-wiki communication channels include: Kaviareň ("Coffee house") at the Slovak Wikipedia.
- Our social media include:
- Facebook: Wikimedians of Slovakia User Group page, Slovak Wikipedia page, event page,
- Instagram: Wikimedians of Slovakia User Group account,
- Twitter: Wikimedians of Slovakia User Group account,
- Discord: Wikimedians of Slovakia User Group server – each week, one experienced editor will be available to answer any questions and help contributors in a Discord voice call (for the duration of about 3 to 4 hours).
- Other communication channels:
- Posters with the information on the event will be hoisted in several public university libraries, public libraries and departments of history or Ukrainian or Russian studies in Slovakia and to some extend also in Czechia.
4. How will you judge the contest and award prizes?
Note: Grantees, judges, and other contest leaders are ineligible to receive prizes. Grantees who are serving as judges may not receive gifts through grant funding.
- All contributions will be judged on:
- Neutral point of view: Does article conform to Wikipedia policy of neutral point of view? Does it support its claims by reliable sources? Does it use objective language?
- Citation of reliable sources: Does article use reliable sources? Does it follow ethical citation guidelines and use citation templates?
- Completeness: To what extend can the article be considered exhaustive on a given topic? (Imagine it is presented as a definitive study of current state of knowledge on a given topic.)
- Writing style: Is the article written in encyclopedic style? Can it be understood even by layman in this topic?
- Grammar.
5. For photo contests, what is the strategy to get images used on projects?
- We are not holding a photo contest as a part of this contest but contributors are encouraged to upload and use their own photos in articles.
6. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:
- No in-person events or activities are run, only online gatherings.
7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
