Time in its irresistible and ceaseless flow carries along on its flood all created things and drowns them in the depths of obscurity.... But the tale of history forms a very strong bulwark against the stream of time, and checks in some measure its irresistible flow, so that, of all things done in it, as many as history has taken over it secures and binds together, and does not allow them to slip away into the abyss of oblivion.
Welcome! Bienvenue! Добро пожаловать! My name is Kirill Lokshin, and I'm a Wikimedian.
I made my first edit to Wikipedia in June 2005, and have been an active contributor ever since. As an editor, my main area of interest has been military history; I've served as a coordinator of the Military History WikiProject on the English Wikipedia since 2006 (as lead coordinator from 2006 to 2008, and as coordinator emeritus since 2008), and have written a number of articles on the topic:
I became an administrator on the English Wikipedia in October 2005, and subsequently served four terms on its Arbitration Committee (2007–2009, 2010–2011, 2012–2013, and 2016–2017).
I was one of the founders of Wikimedia District of Columbia in 2011, and have been part of the chapter's Board of Directors since then, serving as its secretary from 2011 to 2015 and as its president since 2015.
I've been a member of the Affiliations Committee since 2014, serving as its vice-chair from 2016 to 2017 and as its chair since 2017. I've also served on the Grant Advisory Committee (2012–2013), the Individual Engagement Grants Committee (2014–2016), the Simple Annual Plan Grants Committee (2015–2018), the Project Grants Committee (2016–2017), and as the ombudsman to the Funds Dissemination Committee (since 2015).
I'm currently part of the Wikimedia Movement Strategy Working Group on Roles & Responsibilities.
