A brief introduction of Wikimedia Japan-Malaysia Friendship and Wikimedia Japan-Türkiye Friendship.

6. Description edit

Eugene Ormandy from Japan, Taufik Rosman from Malaysia, and Caner from Turkey will introduce the friendship projects. What we will feature at Wikimania will include our joint editathons, collaboration with other institutions such as Japanese embassy in Malaysia or ASEAN, Diff posts we wrote together, and other articles we contributed. We will also present the possibilities of future collaboration with other regions.

Eugene Ormandy hopes that Junko Nakayama, a Japanese staff member of Wikimedia Foundation will attend the session because she knows much about our friendship projects and a good Japanese-English interpreter.

Of course we have implemented international collaboration and opened up knowledge about our friends' communities. In addition, our session would encourage Wikimedians in other regions to establish friendship projects with us and others who join Wikimania.

12. Tell us a bit about yourself and your experience in relation to this submission. edit

I am a Japanese Wikimedian and Newcomer of the Year 2023, one of the winners of Wikimedian of the Year. After Wikimania 2023 where I became a friend of Taufik and Caner, I established the friendship projects. In the scope of them, we have implemented various projects such as ASEAN-Japan 50 editathon and Wikimedia Japan-Türkiye Friendship edit-a-thon I.

13. Do you have any experience in public speaking, leading workshops or trainings, participating on a panel or delivering sessions? If yes, please describe. edit

I have organized various editing events and lectures at Japanese GLAM such as Oya Soichi Library, Sanko Library, Tokyo National Museum, and Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Other authorities such as Japanese embassy in Malaysia, ASEAN, Goethe-Institut Japan are included. Moreover, I have worked with some Japanese publishers, news companies, researchers, and Wikimedia Foundation. Of course, I had some lectures for Student Wikipedian Community in Waseda University Tokyo and Toumon Wikipedian Club Japan, which I established.
