Fundraiser Program Assistant, Wikimedia Foundation
Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first. ~Mark Twain

About me

I came to the Foundation after a few years of pursuing international development work in Indonesia. Feeling jaded in my ability to make a significant impact from my desk at a USAID-funded program, I started eagerly looking for alternative models for development. I wanted to work on a project that was driven by the people and for people, with no hidden agenda other than to enable people to live better, more empowered lives. It's sounded idealistic at the time. But then I found Wikipedia. I've been working at the Foundation since November 2010 and feel very fortunate indeed.

My work

As Program Assistant for the Fundraiser (previously for the Community Department), I work closely with the fundraising team and the Chief Revenue Officer to drive the operational agenda of the Department and help map new strategies for keeping the fundraising goals on target. A lot of this is administrative (processing contracts, invoices, and coordinating travel with guests) and a lot of it is supporting mission critical work like coordinating the fundraiser's drive for creative appeals and the execution of international focus groups.
