Wikiquote is a multilingual project to build a free- and open-content repository of quotations by collaboration.

Everyone can edit Wikiquote, both registered user and unregistered. Since its start, over 300 registered user accounts have been created. Due to its multilinguality and internationality, some users create their accounts on several projects and collaborate on

The project started in 2004 in English. As for March 2005, it has over 20 language projects and close to 9,500 articles. Since its start, over 300 registered users and many unregistered users have contributed to Wikiquote.

There are 11 Wikiquote with over 100 articles. Among them, three Wikiquote English, German and French have over 1,000 articles, and one, Polish has close to 1,000 articles. The currently largest Wikiquote in English with over 2500 pages, followed by German, French and Polish.
