About me

edit

I was a Carlo Schmid Programme fellow (October 2018-March 2019) in the Diversity of Cultural Expressions Section at UNESCO. Under the guidance of John Cummings, I implemented Wikipedia as a tool to improve the visibility of the Section’s work and to make its knowledge more accessible through Wikipedia. I integrated important data produced by UNESCO (graphs, figures, etc.) into Wikidata. Additionally, I wrote two Wikipedia articles in order to increase the accessibility of UNESCO related contents. I participated and created an article within the Wiki4Women event on 8 March 2019 (International Women's Day) to increase the presence of articles on women on Wikipedia. My study background comprises linguistics and anthropology.

My Background

edit

An undergraduate of the University of Leipzig, I lived in several Brazilian cities, in Rome and in Paris. I am convinced that Wikimedia is a symbol of how this digitalized world can include everybody by sharing knowledge. Just like theorists such as Edward Said, Michel Foucault and Judith Butler laid out, knowledge is directly connected to power. Knowledge empowers. This is why I want to contribute to Wikimedia to empower specifically those who do not have granted access to good education.
