History

Wikimedians in Hong Kong has organized three types of meet-ups since 2005:

  • Quarterly meet-ups (2006-2011, 2017-). Revived in 2017 to provide a space for mutual assistance and discussions on community matter while not exhausting energy of the community.
  • Regular meet-ups (2006-2007, 2011-2016), held bi-weekly or monthly at a certain point, excepts 2006 when the location rotated between different districts.
  • Exposure trips (2006-2009), held on a non-regular basis, which aims to record a point of interest or current events
  • Bootcamp (2013, 2017-), to teach citizens the way to edit Wikipedia
  • Editathon (2018-), to enrich Wikimedia project's coverage of specific fields
