The WikiCamp will be held from - to -, in Bakuriani.
A new project and already the second WikiCamp from Wikimedia UG Georgia, for teachers of public schools of Georgia. Teachers are an important resource for us, as they are the primary agents who have direct contact with students and young people, who are the future resource of the Wikimedia movement and Wikimedia projects. For this reason, we consider it important to inform and teach teachers the Wiki-Technologies, which in turn will teach these skills to students and all interested persons. In the end, we will get a result that will help us promote and popularize Wikimedia projects in Georgia.
During the camp, teachers will be taught to work on Wikimedia projects, primarily on Wikipedia. Teachers will study the Wiki-Technology (1-2 days), and then under the supervision of experienced Wikipedians/Wikimedians (Members of UG-GE) will independently create and translate articles in Georgian Wikipedia. After the camp, experienced Wikipedians/Wikimedians will actively collaborate with teachers to work in the Wikimedia projects.
The idea of holding a WikiCamp for teachers was born during the WikiCamp for young people in March of this year (2019), where it was clearly revealed, that it was necessary to work actively with all the assistance agents.
Wikimedia UG Georgia with the funding of the Wikimedia Foundation, fully pay for the accommodation of camp participants, also gets all the necessary things. The budget of the camp will not exceed 2 000 US Dollars.
